However how do they differ in terms of fluff and characterisation? Is the factotum more of a adventuring dungeoneering class, while the Savant i more of a bookish knife wielding rogue? Both have trapfinding skills, ability to spellcast. Are both forms of scholar adventurers? If so which would you recommend as better in terms of play or characterisation? I don't have Dragons Compendium so while I have found out some information on the Savants mechanics, I still dont get the difference bewtween it and the Factotum. It seems to me that there are 3 jack of all trade characters out there -Bard- Savant and factotum. The bards archetype is fairly consistent, but the factotum and savant classes seem a bit vague in the way they have been created. Is it a simple difference between a indiana jones character and a Sherlock holmes character? Both being jack jack of all trades? |
