What would make a Paladin of Tyr turn from his god and accept the life of say a Blackguard? I'm thinking makeing a Paladin them at about 10th level trading in the Paladin levels for Blackguard. But what would promt this change? I seem to be at a loss for ideas, although I did wonder if mearly being confronted by an avitar of say Bane and being asked to deffect would do it, or possably being confronted by Bane himself. What do you guys think? Any other ideas on what would cause the sudden loss of faith would be hepful. Also I am unsure of wich god he should defect to, it would have to be an evil diety for sure, but really its a toss up between Garagos, Malar, Bane, and Lovitar...any suggestions?

Hmm, let's see here.

Several good reasons come to mind.

One, he leads a campaign that goes horribly, horribly wrong, so he questions his faith in Tyr

Two, the good ol' succubus comes and tempts him from the path

A role-model he hade while training turns out to be an evil cleric who manipulated the paladin

so on, so forth.

I don't think an Avatar of Bane talking to him directly would work, I think most paladins would spit in their eye and die rather than be swayed that easily.

Could also start listening to the advice of someone who doesn't have his best interests at heart. Maybe an evil wizard, or another blackguard, or perhaps a demon/devil. All these would require he doesn't know the truth about the person advising him, but their advice is sufficiently good that he doesn't necessarily question it either. Eventually he realizes what he has become and you have a blackguard.
