I find that my characters constantly need some kind of vicious insults to trade with the bad guys as they're battling. It's especially important in forum-based games, where a post with nothing but my attack rolls looks rather half-assed. The trouble is, I quickly run out of angry things to yell at them. I need something that falls between "Do your worst, you uncouth swine!" and anachronistic expletives. What's a tongue-tied hero, possibly from Eberron, to do? They'll laugh at you if you accuse them of being dastardly villains, but there's also only so many ways of calling into question the legitimacy of your opponent's birth or disparaging the supposed profession of his mother.

Well... If you know your nations, you can take advantage of that aspect of insulting. Saying "Your mother was a Karrnathian Zombie *****!" to a Thranish paladin is a good example of that kind of trick, 'cause, ya know, those nations are rivals...

Then there's deities. Cursing a servant of Nerull to live in eternal light is one of my favorites.

And if either of those things fail, there's all sorts of cracks you can make at the expense of spellcasters. Examples include "Are you Enlarged, or are you just glad to see me?" "Phew, man, you smell like your spell components. Lay off the fireballs! (Fireballs use bat guano)" and "Ooooh, the brave mage is BLINKING at me! Eeeek!"
