| Spellskin01-07-07, 10:24 PM | For some reason I've not yet defined a strange thought hit me about an hour ago. Why not play a fat monk? My friends and I really like the Wuxia style seen in martial arts movies like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, and those "monks" all look like they're in perfect physical conditions. I decided to change that and make my monk fat! This is somehwat convoluted but bare with me: His idea of perfection is that one always needs to have the upper hand, this is obtained by doing the unexpected. Basically, he always wants to be the perfect counter to the opposition. Now, I also love wizards. I simply love my spells too much to give them up. So I figure I'd make him an Enlightened Fist. I've thought about using Tome of Battle's Sword Sage for this, but sadly my other friends haven't read the book yet and aren't familiar with those rules just yet. So any suggestions making use of this book aren't really helpful *yet!* Now here's where you guys come in if you're willing to help :) I need suggestions *not builds, I still want to do things for myself you know* for feats and spells to use in this idea. Also a good fitting background story, I've already got one but I'm keen to find out what you guys might think of *test my originality versus that of others*. I don't want to tell you my thoughts on this because of that though. If, because of this, you don't want to help with the background part that's fine :) Many, many thanks in advance :D! |

They dislike wearing armour and fight using their bulk rather than weapons. Sumos have their own unique fighting style, which uses their great weight as a powerful weapon. This style is impossible to copy for anyone who does not have the sumo’s massive flab. Sumo wrestlers would be comical, if not for the terrifying ferocity they show when dispatching their foes. Great warriors in more ways than one, they are not to be trifled with... Hit Die: d12 Requirements To become a Sumo, a character must fulfil all of the following requirements: Size: Medium-size or larger. Knowledge (Warfare): 4 ranks Base-Attack-Bonus: +4 Feats: Endurance, Great Fortitude Special: The Sumo must weigh at least 23 stone. Class Skills The Sumo’s class skills are: Balance (Dex), Climb (Str), Craft (Int), Handle Animal (Cha), Heal (Wis), Intimidate (Cha), Knowledge (Warfare) (Int), Move Silently (Dex). Skill Points at Each Level: 2 + Int modifier. Class Features All of the following are class features of the sumo warrior prestige class. Weapon and Armour Proficiency: Sumos gain no additional weapon or armour proficiency. Improved Unarmed Strike: The sumo gains this as a bonus feat at first level, even if he does not meet the prerequisites. Sumo Fighting Style: A sumo’s specialist fighting style allows them to use their vast bulk as a very effective weapon. As such, the sumo’s unarmed attack damage increases to 1d10, unless it would already be more than this. Also, he may now use his Constitution modifier instead of his Strength modifier to add to attack and damage rolls when making an unarmed attack. Sumo Sacrifice: At second and seventh level the Sumo makes the sacrifices that his class requires. At second level he permanently loses 2 points of Dexterity, but gains 2 points of Constitution, also permanently. At seventh level he permanently loses 2 points of Charisma, but gains 2 points of Constitution. Sumo Battle Attack: At third, sixth and ninth levels, the sumo gains increased damage with his unarmed attack. When making an unarmed attack he also deals additional damage, depending on his level. Do not roll Battle Attack damage twice if the Sumo scores a critical with his unarmed attack. Toughness: At second level and every four levels thereafter the Sumo gains the Toughness feat as a bonus feat. Blubber Armour: This is the strange natural armour that the Sumo’s great bulk provides. At third level, the Sumo gains Blubber Armour +2; at fifth, seventh and tenth level this bonus improves by two. Blubber Armour counts as natural armour, but it does not stack with any other natural armour the character may have. The bonuses from Blubber Armour are lost if the character wears any armour at all. Sumo Battle Frenzy: This is exactly the same as the barbarian’s rage ability, treat it as such. Sumo Perfection: Upon reaching tenth level, the Sumo perfects his fighting art. He is no longer winded after Battle Frenzy, his Battle Frenzy bonuses increase to +6, +6 and +3, his unarmed critical improves to ×3, and he may add both his Strength and Constitution scores to his unarmed strike attack and damage rolls.
