| Gamfallen01-24-06, 08:37 PM | My favorite character that I've made is named Gamfallen Vidillys, a fighter who (in my homebrew campaign) became the general of Darius' army. In the war of Ardonis, Darius the Dark conquered much of the known world, until the Great Country of Belebek was all that remained. During the first battles of Belebek, Gamfallen fought against Darius and his army; he was one of Belebek's greatest warriors. In one of the later battles he was captured by Valcor, the Grey Shadow, Darius' right hand man. Darius saw the value of such a capable fighter and tactician, and quickly formed a plan to trick the man into fighting for him. Darius approached Gamfallen with an offer: Darius would give him anything he wanted if he would fight for him. Gamfallen asked him to leave Belebek and, return to his homeland, never to return. Darius then said "anything but that." Gamfallen completely refused his offer if Darius would not leave Belebek. So the war raged on, with several futile attempts from Belebek to push Darius and his army back. Gamfallen was forced to watch the slaughter of his countrymen, day after day, for the Dark made him watch every battle. Then Gamfallen thought of his request. He asked of Darius to return life to his fellow countrymen, if Gamfallen would capture the capital city of Darethyl, and end the war. This Darius agreed to. Since Gamfallen knew the layout of the city, all Darius' army had to do was breach the wall at some point, then Gamfallen and a small strike team could sneak to the King's mansion. Gamfallen was chosen to lead the battle up to the point until the wall was breached. Grudgingly, Gamfallen accepted. The wall was breached and Gamfallen was able to sneak directly into the King's chamber, where he killed him. Now Darius had to hold up his end of the bargain. Once the crown was upon Darius' brow, he began to cast the spell to bring back the dead. To show this to Gamfallen, the body of the king was placed before him. The king was reurned his life, but not the way he was supposed to be. His body was twisted and his soul was as dark as that of his new master. For the second time in one day, Gamfallen was forced to kill the King of Belebek. Gamfallen then tured to Darius, when Valcor stepped in and wounded Gamfallen with a blow from his flail that crippled Gamfallen's arm. When the death blow was about to be dealt to him, an old wizard appeared, and took Gamfallen away from the place. Once in a safe haven, the wizard revealed himself as the God of the Sun, Celgric. He healed Gamfallen's arm and told him he had to choose one of two choices; destroy Darius and help rebuild the world and his country, or let his soul be devoured by the God of Death, Krillic. Gamfallen, horrified at what his decision had done, accepted the first choice. Celgric then told him to seek out one of his cleric's, Valgrand, who would help him right his wrongs. Then he left. Gamfallen now searches for the cleric who is to be his savior, and travels with the halfling, Warwick Treeshadow, and the Half-elf Caim Vayose. He has adopted the name Raith Selduun to hide his infamous identity. So thats my favorite character. I was just wondering if anyone else has a character that they like a lot that they want to talk about. So if you want to post your character, or ask any questions or give any suggestions about mine, feel free to do so. |
| Baerdog701-24-06, 10:04 PM | I am currently playing a paladin named Ander Windrivver in a homebrew campaign. His story is kind of long, so I'll put it in spoiler boxes so I don't take up too much space. Ander's father had a decent sized farm bordered by woodland that Ander grew up in, but was no noble by any stretch of the imagination. His father placed great importance on Ander's education, which included weapons training and book learning. As he grew older, Ander became well-known in his community as a person able to settle disputes and other diplomatic affairs with great alacrity. When Ander's father died, he inherited the family farm. He settled down there with the woman of his dreams and they had a son. When a couple of quasits were sighted near the town, he was with the party sent to drive them off or kill them. He and the group returned home to find that the main force of demons had razed the town and killed their innocent families. Ander was devastated, and only had thoughts of revenge against the demons who had shattered his life. He joined the temple of St. Cuthbert, hoping that the god of retribution would help him in his revenge. His martial skill and strong force of personality made him a perfect canidate for paladinhood. It was just as well, seeing as he didn't have the mastery over divine magic required of a cleric. Ander spent a few years doing minor quests for the temple before he was given a chance to fight alongside the forces of good in the lower planes. Demons and devils had been mounting increased attacks on the Material Plane and the side of good needed warriors. He jumped at the chance to fight the demons who had caused him so much pain. And if a few devils got killed in the process, so much the better. Ander spent ten years in the army. He saw many horrible things. He made friends in the army, only to see them cut down by the fiendish hordes that they fought. He rose throught the ranks until eventually, he was promoted to the rank of general for his outstanding service record and great tactical skill. He was getting tired of fighting though; he longed for the peaceful fields of his father's farm and the forest that he romped in as a boy. Most of all, he missed his wife and child. Ander led one last, great battle against the very army of Demogorgon. The bloodshed of that one battle was so great that even his demon adversaries were shocked. Worst of all, was that the ground gained by Ander was lost just weeks afterward by another general's arrogance. Ander, feeling thoroughly defeated, resigned his commission and returned to the Material Plane. He spent the next five years wandering, doing no great deeds, not even attending regular service at the temples of St. Cuthbert. Eventually, however, he was able to enjoy life again. He would smile occasionally or even, sometimes, find himself able to laugh at a joke. He took up his greathammer once more and began travelling the land, this time doing whatever good things could be done in town he happened to be in. Now, Ander is questing with a group of adventurers, fighting abberations, undead, and even the fiends that he fought for so many years. At 45 years old, he's a little slower that he used to be, but still has a powerful swinging arm. He recently found the sword of Merikel, and is also on a quest to redeem it. He doesn't know where his road will take him now, he just hopes that he will find peace at last at the end. -Baerdog7 |
| Gamfallen01-26-06, 07:59 PM | Ander sounds like a very interesting character, and he seems like he's been through it all. His story seems a bit like Gamfallen's, in the sense that they both travel for revenge on the one's that caused them harm. I also like the idea of playing an older character, it's not something that ever really crossed my mind. |
| Baerdog701-26-06, 10:07 PM | He is a very fun character to play. Considering that he is travelling with a goliath, a duskling, and a tiefling right now, he seems very ordinary at first. Sure, his stats aren't as good as theirs, but he has a very rich story and really shines in RP. Gamfallen seems very interesting too. He seems like a good person who just tried to do what he could to save his country. I hope that he finds the cleric and finds peace at the end of his adventures. -Baerdog7 |
| Arco Versipellis01-28-06, 12:15 PM | My favorite character is Dylan "Tidestrider" Lear. She is an aquatic half-elf druid/keeper of the waves. She is a very attractive lady, having dark black hair and light blue skin. Her eyes are a vivid green color, as is the slight green webbing between her fingers and toes. She wears a lot of orange, including a sash tied around her waste. Around her neck she wears a small silver dolphin pendant, a gift from her mother. On her left shoulder is an orange colored tattoo of a pleiosaur. Despite her smaller frame, Dylan is relentless, refusing to surrender against the odds. She is not out-spoken, though he freely shares her ideas when she feels that her insight may help the party pull through a situation with less difficulty. The only daughter of an aquatic elf and a pirate, Dylan spent the early part of her life living with her father in a small house right on the sands of a beach near the edge of civilization. Her mother, cleric of Deep Soshelas, would visit them very often. Unfortunately, her father had earned himself many enemies. A sudden and terrible storm drove the father and his daughter in from the shore. Suspicious of the nature of this storm, Captain Lear left his daughter with a friend of his, a maenad traveling through the area to visit local druid groves, while he investigated. In short, during her travels, Dylan learns a great deal about druids and the natural world around her. Most fascinating to her are the tales of dinosaurs her caretaker shares with her. When her father and mother return for her, they report that the threat has been eliminated. However, Dylan asks if she can continue training with the maenad druid in the Gem Dust Isles. They agree. She boards a ship and heads into the wilderness to learn the ways of a druid. Years later, she is trying to return to her father's ship, who has been working actively as a pirate. On the way, she is taken captive by a group of gnoll and kobold pirates known as the Blood Brothers, who plan on selling her to slavery. She escaped and reunited with her father. Angered by her escape and the death of one of their brothers in a most awful way*, these pirates set a trap and lure her and her companion swashbuckler on board. With the aid of another prisoner, Dylan managed to kill gnoll Captain Mange and escape. A new captain, half-gaint Captain Saltwalker, is elected and he places a bounty on their heads. The party is engaged by a female elf monk, who goes only by the name Messenger, who helps the captain capture the party for a price. The Blood Brothers abandon the party on the shores of Illusion Island, though they are not yet aware of the nature of the island. The word of a young red dragon the party encounters sends them through a hedge maze. In this maze, the learn of the illusions and doubts begin to arise. However, they make it out. On the othersider of the maze the party finds a length wall and a distant tower. However, during that night, one of her companions was lured away into a trap by an illusion and lust for gold. Finally, a guardian of the island approach the party and lead them to the tower. Their a shadow shaper explains the history of the island and asks the party to stay with him for a while. *: The kobold was poisoned by Dylan's animal companion at the time, a sea snake. They managed to lock him in and escape. Afterwards, another party member desecrated the kobold by shoving the ladel he was serving us slop with up his... Well, anyway, it was an act that huanted the party and was most often blamed on another character by NPCs. |
| loaba01-30-06, 12:27 AM | My favorite PC has always been Phineas. What he lacks in sheer brute strength, he more than makes up for with his wicked dexterity. Thank you WoTC for giving me the tools to fully realize a skilled light fighter. |
| Hirochicken01-30-06, 02:15 AM | My favorite charater is one I'm currently still playing. Her name is Amelia Butcher Clickingheels, a 23 year-old halfling wizard who is currently of 5th level. Stats: Str 8, Dex 14, Con 15 (now 16), Int 18, Wis 5, Cha 12 She was of a family of warriors. Her parents met on the battlefield, and all five of her siblings are combat focused (hunter for hire, paladin, warpreist, dagger thrower, and swordsman). But for some reason she was only as strong as the average halfling, but had a vast intellect. She only has her families reputation for being durable and tough. On the other hand there was her rival, Eric von Black, from a halfling family of spellcasters. The only thing was that he just didn't have the spark for casting, while melee combat came naturally to him. He claims that Amelia stole his magic and he hates her for it. She doesn't realize this. Went to a fair with parents, saw a wizard perform cantrips, and that night she could do them herself. Parents told wizard about it, told them about his friend Lester (svirfneblin Illusionist) who ran an Adveturer's school. Sent her there and from there the adventure began! Lester sent out for his old travellign companions best students so he could send them out on missions. First he put them in an arena to fight some wolves so he could see how good they were and how well they worked together. Amelia and the dwarf beserker were the only survivors of the four. Three other students came "late". We were sent from Two Stars (just north of Thayan lands) to Kront (futher north) in order to help his sister out. Unfortunately the road there turned otu to be quite deadly for Amelia's travelling companions. A goblin raiding party eventually lead to them being saved as prisioners in teh camp for two weeks, with three of her companions falling, while two more were brought in as prisoners. A group of kobolds lead by Lord Eep (kobold Sor) killed off the goblins and freed them. Shortly after, the an ogre assaulted the party at night. Amelia scared it away by making it believe Paladins of Tear were coming on horses (Ghost Sound ;) ), but he came back with a partner, killing off their tracker and nearly knocking Amelia out in one blow (DM fudged the roll so that I only took 9 damage which put me at 0). A band of clerics came the next day, and they travelled with them for a few days till the killed the ogres off and ended up in Kront. They met up with Lucinda (Lester's older sister who is a cleric), and she told them about a recent group which was mining, using kobolds, goblins, and ogres as muscle to capture people to work in the mines. They accepted, and when Amelia left she ran into two soldiers (deserters of the Thayan army) and they went for a drink at the inn where the enemy base was (and she was told not to go to). A brutal fight, but the three of them managed to kill off the enemies (they attacked first), but the barkeep escaped. They went back to Lucinda's and layed low for the night. They were wanted the next day, so they went to investigate the kobolds in the hills. They tricked some ogre guards ("Puppies" is the new password, and hey, we're new, also!), found the camp, half the party got captured by kobolds, while Amelia and Viktor (one of the Thayans and he has a Russian accent) ran into a woman named Valeria who insulted them and then put them to sleep. They woke up with their friends. After tricking the kobolds into helping them raid Kront, the ogres attacked (Puppies is no new password!!!), but an onlooking halfling druid and a barbarian helped them kill off the ogres and kobolds. They went back to the camp, and then climbed down the top of a mountain (small moutain), fighting some soldiers on the way, and then at the bottom they found 2 more ogres, 10 kobolds, and Valerie! They pushed a cart of ore onto, thus startign the battle! It ended up with everyone killing off the monsters (and them getting killed), the druid's dog tripping one of the ogres, and Amelia and Valerie having a mage dual. Valerie survived the rocks because she cast Feather Fall on them, but she was then Scorching Rayed by Amelia (they had it out for each other). Valerie climbed up, upon which Amelia Magic Missled her in the face, killing her (a 9th level sorceress!). They freed the prisoners and went back to Lucinda in Kront. Lester was there, made Simulicrums of the wanted people, turned them in for the reward while the real ones stayed in hiding for a day. Part two! We now get 1000 GP a month from Lester in return for doing his missions. Now we are fighting orcs because three tribes of them have been brought together under one leader and they threathen the nearby countries with their might! Also, Zass Tam seems to have a hand with the orcs, providing them with undead support! Can Amelia and her companions prevent Kront from being raided and bring down the "self-appounted" king of the orcs? I enjoy playing Amelia because although she is smart, her low wisdom (that's the lowest I've ever rolled!) makes her oblivious to most things. She is book smart. She can understand the very fabrics of the world and elements, yet has no clue what a man means when he asks if she wants to see his "longspear" or why people have so much faith in gods. Also, for some reason unknown to me, she has proven again and again to be very lucky (which the DM says aside from her casting poweris one of the reasons why Lester keeps her). Thirteen other people have died from very deadly encounters (with 5 other travelling companions with her now), yet frail and physically defenseless her has stood tall (or short, rather) through all of this. I'm thinking of having her become a Lore Master for more of the stereotype of "clueless librarian", as well as becoming a Fatespinner and eventually maybe some Arch-Mage. |
| Ront Iron-Roar01-31-06, 10:57 AM | Its a battle between Ront Iron-roar my 18th leve Fighter/3rd level Half-Orc paragon and my Gnome Character, Gabrial Flint Glimmerstone, 3rd level Gnome Paragon (Modified with an Illusionist flavor instead of a Bard flavor to it)/ 7th level Illusionist(Unearthed Arcana Variant.) |
| Gamfallen01-31-06, 05:35 PM | Interesting Characters, they all have their own interesting quirk or trademark, and seem like they would be very fun characters to role play. Dylan sounds like she would be fun to play, especially since you seem to be playing in an aquatic campaign. Phineas is generally the opposite of my general fighters. He's light and fast, while most of my fighters are the more straightforward, hack, slash and bash sort of guys. Amelia, just got to love those little halflings, what, with the shortness and the luckness and all that. Especially one with magic. It's neat that she isn't the stereotypical halfling that steals everything she gets a hand on. And Ront, just the kind of character I like, the one who charges to the front and (I'm assuming) the guy who puts a lot of the hurt on the enemy. |

I even got bonus experience because every single player voted for me for a Role-Play award! I then turned around and crafted magic swords for everyone who wanted one. |
