Feats that I want vs. Feats that I need [Archive] - Wizards Community

Stupid Third edition. We were doing just fine without feats, thank you very much. My level 9 fighter got to pick which weapon specialization he wanted, and he got to choose which followers he wanted. End of Customization.

I've been playing 3E since its inception, and I didn't complain when it came out. I was already used to buying 543,265,432,654 different supplements such as players option books, individual class books, etc. And don't get me wrong, I love all of the neat supplements that have been coming out, especially for FRCS. But I need help. Badly. I haven't made a character with min/maxy feats in so long its not funny. I can't help it. I love Swift and Silent, Arcane Preparation, Reactive Counterspell, Spell Thematics, and Education like I love air. If it weren't for bonus feats, my fighters would be lucky to get Weapon Focus.

My actual question is for anyone out there with the power to affect change at Wizards: can we get some powerful flavor feats? Yes, the regional feats got a boost in Player's Guide to Faerun, but were then immediately balanced by limiting them to one per PC. Must there forever be this rift between feats that add vivid color and depth to characters and those that simply add to attack bonus/save DCs/damage?

In the name of Human Fighters with Education, Skill Focus (Sense Motive), 13 Str, and 18 Int, please have mercy.

You might like Eberron, the flavor feats for that are KICKASS.
As for Faerun? I like Treetopper, Arcane Schooling, all the great feats from Races of Faerun and Unapproachable East (Calishite Elementalist, Jotunbrud, etc.), Blooded, Swift and Silent, that feat that gives you a favored enemy bonus (although they made a typo in Player's Guide to Faerun...shouldn't Chultans who take the feat get favored enemy: Reptilian Monstrous Humanoids?). Player's Guide to Faerun is pretty sick in and of itself for it's 3.5 FR-flavored Vile and Exalted feats near the end of the book, NICE.

Yeah, Eberron looks great, but I kind of got turned off from it early on. In any case, I'm a Forgotten Realms junkie till death. If I don't have hope that any given PC eill one day run into El, Drizzt, the Simbul, or the like, then I don't really have anything at all.

I would really like to see all of the weaker feats changed to Talents a.k.a. D20 modern and then give PC's free talents every (other, third, fourth?)level to help give them flavor. I would even like to see a system in place that put prerequisites on the Talents for ranks bought in skills and/or in game events that had occurred before certain Talents could be taken. i.e. Build role playing into the game system more then it presently is.
