I'm looking at introducing a Goblin Wizard to replace my Druid, who perished after a critical hit in a gladitoral match. He's currently nameless, though for ease I've addressed my newest character as Gobli.

Shortly after birth, Gobli's Goblin warren was anhiliated after a series of Fireballs from the Order of Thay*, who was acting as mercenaries on behalf of the capitol city of Ebon.

The sole survivor of the holocaust, Gobli grew up adopted by the Order, learning from an early age the art of manipulating the multiverse. Ironically, instead of fearing fire, the Goblin Wizard ascended through the years with a mental reliance on casting and controling blazing inferino's.

For alignment, I went Lawful/Neutral.

Becoming a Wizard is no small feat, it requires strict dicipline. Thus, Lawful.

Neutral is two fold. For one, arcane studies are simplier when you can avoid moral debates and rebellions of conscious. Second, Gobli will not outright steal, but he's not above using trickery and sabotage to obtain his desires. Also, the Goblin Wizard delights in causing chaos, despair, and death through fire magic, but will not do it for simply on the whim. Basically, don't stand in your way.

That's about where my portion stops and my plea begins. I need to flesh out Gobli's current personality, as well grant him a proper 'wizardy' name.

I know he's a shameless pyromanic. I know he's insane, alysum insane. While burning flesh he often chants in a sing-song tune something about destruction, misery, agony, or (his own) bliss, while clapping his hands and bouncing up and down, alternating which foot he balances on.

I could certainly use some psychotic character traits. Such as muttering, 'yes- yes that will work quit nicely' to himself randomly (jacked from 1001 character quirks). If some real life bard could compose a chant or three for me I'd be eternally grateful, and make a pledge that my Gobli will never raze your village unless provoked.

*Order of Thay is a visage of the Red Wizard Prestige Class, with alterations to location, alignment, and other membership requirements.

Cool idea. It's hard to think of a character who's lawful while being decidedly "insane." Here are some thoughts from the top of my head:

1) there's a patron fire god he's fond of that he does a prayer to every morning and night. This god isn't responsible for his spells, but he's quite convinced the only reason his fires burn as strongly as they do is because of this god's graces. Always trying to show what a good follower of this fire god he is, but might not quite get the tenets of faith. Harass priests of enemy gods, attempt to convert others by fire, smite the wicked, or hold an impromptu inquisition.
2) An emnity with water. He refuses to drink water (although milk, beer, or wine wouldn't be a problem) and refuses to bathe. Thinks if he gets wet his magic won't work.
3) Have him get overly excited about combat situations, or the possibility of combat situations, or any situation to burn something down.
4) Make him particularly long-winded. Monologue endlessly about how you intend to immoliate your opponents in particularly gruesome ways. Says "Indeed!" in a high-pitched, overly-excited, voice all the time.
5) Maybe he has a special "you got burned" dance he does whenever he's victorious.
6) Have a one track mind. Refocus any conversation you have about fire, or fire-related themes. "Hi, how are you?" "Do you think the stars are little fires in the sky? I do. Once, I made a fireball and it looked like a little star, kinda..." while the other person is just awkwardly smiling and nodding.

As for a name...hmm, off the top of my head, Pyrexxigon? Volcanus? Valco? Firagon? Novaro? Whenever anyone asks you what it means, just pause and go "I don't know, hopefully it has something to do with burning."

:cheer: Yay, goblins! :cheer:
Character Names: Goblinoid names tend to have vowel sounds that are spoken longer than usual for most languages. In male names, these vowel sounds are most often couched between a soft consonant and a hard consonant. In female names, the sound lies between two soft consonants. Most names have two syllables, but a few have three. Some goblins are given names that describe some deed or aspect of the individual.
Goblinoids of the three types use the same names and naming conventions despite tribal differences. ...
Male Names: Drevduul, Gudruun, Kalaad, Krootad, Reksiit, Wuudaraj.
Female Names: Belaluur, Draraaar, Kelaal, Rekseen, Shedroor, Tuneer.

What about Pyyro Cindersage?

Why was this goblin adopted rather than slain with his kinsmen?
while clapping his hands and bouncing up and down, alternating which foot he balances on.
This is a reference to Caballus from Icewind Dale 2, isn't it? :D I have a goblin character named Weenog myself, though what with the brain the size of an acorn he never did pick up wizardry, and ended up being a ranger. ;) "Weenog have rabies, he shoot then bite!" :smirk:

Psychotic, eh? Well, this fellow could openly complain about skinny people not igniting well, and take great delight in chances to fight overweight enemies due to the fat providing better fuel to burn. He might muse on how fire is just as alive as any creature - after all, it grows, consumes, and reproduces - and personally introduce those who disagree to his favorite life-form. :mage: Or maybe he just has a lifetime goal of somehow setting the oceans on fire, without cheating by spreading oil over them and just burning that.

I think this goblin will probably have a fascination with matches... er, tindertwigs. After all, much like a goblin they're small and unimpressive, and yet can accomplish a lot if they're in the right place at the right time. And they make fire, just like him!

I'm going with Boccob for my diety, simply for his Relic in Compete Divine. However I love your idea of needing a dieties force to make his magic strong. Oh and their will be impromtu inquisitions, but they won't be religous.
Gobli - "Fear the flame do you?"
Captured Cleric of Wee Jas "yes"
Gobli "Must you die! Burn. Yes indeed this will be good. Yes, very good."

2) An emnity with water. He refuses to drink water (although milk, beer, or wine wouldn't be a problem) and refuses to bathe. Thinks if he gets wet his magic won't work.
Teehee I figured the fear of water was an unmentionable given, but I never considered a prohibition on drinking the stuff.

5) Maybe he has a special "you got burned" dance he does whenever he's victorious.

I think he'll raise his hands in the air and sorta bounce up and down swinging his torch around, perhaps throwing it up and catching it a few times. Oh yea, I'm getting around weapon size limitations by going with a torch. It doesn't actually deal damage by it's self, but it can certinly set enemies ablaze.

Again, very good. Thank you.

Dunno, pittied I guess. Suppose his 'grandaddy' was Lawful Good.

I wish it were but it's not. Sorry.

I've selected a name. I'm going with Shaggy Shaggs post of Gudruun. Yep, Gudruun the insane Goblin Evoker with a fetish for fire, weilding a torch and dancing a happy jig when their are more enemies for him to burn.

He will worship Boccob, because I want his Relic's, and be Lawful Neutral because he has a strict dicipline. To destroy enemies through fire.

When he starts a fire he'll begin one of his ritual dances to celebrate the accomplishment. The dance it's self will be fairly simple, mainly just some leaping and shouting.

He's utterly stupified of water and debates between himself why it does not catch ablaze, after all, oil does. Until he figures out why it does not, he will not drink it. Bathing he'll do occasionally, mainly to the benefit of himself to avoid other Wizards with more powerful spells.

I consider this more then enough, but if any have additional ideas for my little Gudruun, I'll check this thread every few days for the next week. Thanks to those who have helped.
