Hi!
We're going to be starting up a Dawn of the Dead-type D20 modern campaign in a couple weeks. I'm playing Edgar Meehan, an Irish-Catholic firefighter from Boston. He flew to El Paso, TX to pick up a 72 Monte Carlo and a couple days later, the zombies started rising from the dead. He ended up at a Hacienda outside of El Paso with a bunch of other survivors.

It's one year later. The survivors from the Hacienda are going to caravan to Maine to get to some island. So the trip from Texas to Maine is going to be kind of Road-Warriory.

What I need is a personality for this guy. I'm thinking his faith is shaken since holy ground does not protect against the zombies. Also, the dead ain't staying dead.

He is a Tough 4 with the Emergency Services profession. He has maxed ranks in Drive and Treat Injury, and a bunch in Craft Mechanical, Repair, Climb, Spot, and Profession firefighter.
His feats are Heroic Surge, Heavy Vehicle Driving or something, Endurance, Personal Firearms, and Great Fortitude. He plans on wielding a fireman's axe (GM ruled it is a simple weapon). And hopefully a shotgun. He has Fire Resistance 3 and DR 1/-.

Also, he has a HUGE mustache.

Well, a general guideline I try to follow when making character personalities... try and follow one definitive characteristic or theme rather than having a lot of little nuance; while a complex personality is deeper, I've found it doesn't come across well in roleplaying; it ends up usually seeming dry to other players.
Thus, I would recomend choosing a theme to run with. From what you have so far, it seems there are two directions you can take this character:

1. Faith. Rather than letting the zombie apacalypse get him down, he steels against it in his faith in divine power. He probably sees this as a part of the ultimate battle of good against evil. He is nigh-fearless, as he believes himself to be chosen by God to fight against the hordes of the damned. Possibly take levels of Dedicated Hero or the Holy Warrior (I believe that's what it's called) from Urban Arcana.

2. Embitterment. God is clearly not on his, because the dead just rose from the earth and ate his family. He has either renounced his belief in God, or views the Almighty as a sadistic puppeteer of the chaos befalling the earth. His disposition is bitter and hostile, especially against those who retain faith. This path seems more likely if he lost someone important to the undead (wife, child, dog, etc.).

Thanks!
This is a zero magic campaign, so nothing from Urban Arcana. The zombies are the result of a virus from a meteoroid in Africa.

I'm probably going to go somewhere in between those two. A believer who is mad at God. Maybe kind of like the preacher in from Dusk til Dawn. But with a bigger mustache. ;)
