I'm going to be playing in a "reject monsters" campaign with a humorous slant, and this is what I've come up with. I don't have the character sheet made up yet, but I imagine the character will be mostly useless. Anyway, here's an intro to how Flit became an adventurer:

The figure at the far end of the glade lay on his back, pale face exposed to the silver moonlight streaming between the darkened branches. From his perch, Flit could make out a short, pudgy nose, and eyes sunk back into their sockets. His heart plunged into an empty cavern in his frail chest: the man was hurt.

Gliding down into the open for a better look, Flit noticed the armor the man was wearing: it was dark--the color of licorice, which that old wizard who wandered through these woods so long ago had given to him out of pity--and the twisted metal ornaments winding off of it resembled that same sweet substance.

Maybe this one has licorice as well, thought Flit.

He lighted on a sickly branch beside the injured man.

And, as if by miracle, the man stirred from his fevered slumber.

He rolled to one side and eyed Flit with a crimson gaze. In the shadow of his dark iron helm, his eyes burned like molten rubies.

"Leave me, worm," he rasped. "I am Xacht Auris, Cleric of Bane."

Wyrm! thought Flit. Nobody's ever paid me such a compliment.

He reached his long neck forward to a position where he could sniff at the dying man's armor. It didn't smell like licorice: it smelled like blood. That made sense, given his condition.

A sudden glinting of light on the man's breastplate caught Flit's gaze; he flapped his wings and hopped down from the branch on which he had roosted. The man was muttering something Flit didn't understand, and his hand was on the glowing red object.

Suddenly, the clouds coalesced into an inferno, and a pillar of fire struck the branch Flit had recently vacated.

A fire to fend off the cold!

Flit basked in its warmth, but only let himself be distracted for a moment. The glowing thing in the man's gloved hand held far more interest.

"What is it?" Flit asked. "What shiny thing is that?"

Xacht Auris raised his hand and, with the last of his waning strength, hurled it at Flit. But his weakness exceeded his expectation, and the holy symbol from which he had just drawn his final spell followed a shallow arc toward the faerie dragon, landing in the snow at such an angle that ruby at its center threw out a splay of rainbows in the soft moonlight.

Defeated, the Dreadlord let his head fall back and, knowing full well that eternal torment awaited him, passed into the afterlife.

In his forest clearing, by the warmth of the dwindling fire, Flit hovered a few feet above the ground, entranced by this shimmering spectacle the cleric had left behind.

Flit had never before heard of this Bane, but as he sat there beside the crackling fire, he pledged to serve this mysterious God of rainbows, compliments, and warmth. He swore to serve Bane the rest of his days.

Unbeknownst to Flit, Erevan Ilesere, elven deity of Mischief, Change, and Rogues, had taken notice of this particular event, and, finding the situation immensely hilarious, has decided to grant Flit his favor in order to fuel the Faerie Dragon's divine magic. So Flit continues to crusade in the name of Bane, spreading the message of rainbows and cheer to any he happens to encounter, and accusing those who try to explain Bane's true nature to him of blasphemy.

I think this may be the single most humorous character I have ever heard of in connection to that diety. I love him.

Thank you for not having that new god reveal herself as the one he has truly been worshiping.

Oh, oops, if Erevan Ilesere is female, I better make sure I know that going into the campaign. I haven't looked into the FR pantheon much yet, since I've never played a cleric, or a religious character of another class.

I'm hoping that by the time the party hits level 4 or 5 Flit will have discovered the nature of the prank so he can abandon the cleric progression and become a sorcerer. But perhaps he, too, would see the humour, and decide to follow Ilesere anyway. Faerie dragons are known to enjoy a well-executed prank.

Flit's main joke on the party (to keep in line with the capriciousness of his race) is to intentionally over-exaggerate his S's and make sure to always speak with many of them. The sibilance should grate on everybody's nerves, and it'll make in-character speech that much more fun.

Actually the gender was an assumption on my part... don't know why.

As for your main joke... Its funnier if they know your doing it just to annoy them. Make sure only to use it when the party is trying to be serious.:D
