For everyone who I DM, please stop reading. You won't really gain anything reading this and you'll just spoil your own surprise.

People included in this list are: Tira, Coshin, Valstrum, Nala, Magus, Nanoc, Rayne, Jeremiah, Vincent; plus anyone I forgot, plus your cohorts. You guys all know who you are well enough.

So, I'm making an NPC, potentially a BBEG, or benefactor for the PCs.

However I decided to make an Evolved Undead Necropolitan (Libris Mortis Undead template plus a Template for intelligent undead, that is re-stackable can be added once every 100 years to an intelligenct undead at a 1% cahnce plus the total amount of previous evolutions; so an undead that has evolved 10 times has an 11% chance of evolving when the next 100 years roll around).

The PrC adds a bunch of things:

+1 nat armour
+2 str
+2 cha
+3 fast healing
+1 more spell like ability a day (chosen from: greater dispell magic, cone of cold, haste, cloud kill, greater invis, crawling doom, and a bunch of others, there are 12 all told)

(with Cha as the stat affecting DCs, so his cones of cold, hold person etc. will be impossible to beat saves-wise)

With 100 evolutions the BBEG gains ...

+100 natural armour. I guess he's got a severe problem with calluses.
+200 strength, and he's... done a lot of weight training.
+200 charisma as well as become so suave that he can con an ancient gold wyrm out of it's hoard (it's for charity, duh) and get the ancient red wyrms to help contribute as well (to greater impovrish the world will leave the red dragon's richer; that's the ticket).
+300 fast healing (as long as he has 1 hp left...so, if ); meaning that he can take a massive pounding and all save a hulking hurler/uber charger/pun pun/HIVE/etc. could probably kill him.
+100 spell like abilites [Chosen from one of 12; included are greater dispell magic, cone of cold, haste, cloud kill](with Cha as the stat affecting DCs, so his cones of cold, hold person etc. will be impossible to beat saves-wise)

With some rolling every '100' years I figured out that he'll fully evolved by an age of 42,300 years (results will vary, I was lucky and got about 2 evolutions in the first 1000 years so he was pretty fast at evolving; and yes, I did actually 'roll' it all (used the Rand button on my calc, yes i was bored).

I'm thinking of something along the lines of a cleric/wizard/sorcerer/artificer gestalt something, with a bunch of levels of geomancer to combine all of that casting to work with charisma. Plus lots of divine metamagic for a ludicrous amount of persistant spells.

A character that's that old will probably have found a psychic yogi somewhere that could pyschicly re-format him into a gestalt and now he travels the planes seeking and collating more and more knowledge.

I'm also thinking of throwing a couple levels of [LE] paladin or anti-paladin to create ungodly saves and a few levels marshall to have him command his cohorts better.

The marshall idea seems promising since he can apply his crazy-high Cha to skill-checks. Maybe like some sort of crazy singing/humming that somehow focuses his abilities when doing spell research or climbing or balancing or listening for enemies.

No need for paladin ... next stop - minor divinity as a demi-god ( divine rank 1-5 )

The first question I have to ask is WHY?

An unkillable BBEG is pointless-being that the characters cannot even hope to momentarily inconvience him-let alone stop him. Do you intend to promote the sort of twinking that anyone would have to accomplish to even stand up to this guy?!?!?!

:Whew: ...sorry it's just that one of my greatest pet peeves are unkillable NPC's-perhaps the characters aren't even meant to fight him...but then why make an all powerful NPC-good or evil-if he's good...then he's probably killed off all of the evil deities singlehandedly or perhaps converted them to good- in which case he probably has eliminated most evil in the world and if he's evil then apply that to all of the good deities and then sit and watch as your players are frustrated by a pointless battle that they cannot win.

300 fast healing? Along with gestalt character levels? (which, considering the other patterns I've been seeing in this NPC's creation are sure to be high) I would advise you to consider why you're placing this NPC in your world-is it because he contributes to the setting, or is it just because you can?

Those sort of statistics are god level and unless your pc's are playing god like charcters you are going to have a very boring session of making new characters every 5 minutes as the BBEG wipes the floor with anything that gets near it. I mean really, fast healing of 300! in what game are you playing where parties are consistantly doing more than 300 points in a round? Not even the Tarrasque does that. Then you have the strength of +200, assuming he starts with a strength of more than 10 that is +100 to hit and damage, just for a start. That is a recepie for instant death if you ask me.

Admitedly I don't know your characters or your setting but it seems alittle too much for me. What happened to the 1st lvl adventures where a pair of kobolds and a wand of magic missile was a life threatening event. Any way that is just me.

On the off chance that it turns into a benefactor, then the PCs sort of have their own personal god. Maybe the undead guy's trying to ascend to godhood and the PCs are his first worshipers?

Actually, you can look up my campaign from when it started about 11 months ago (and one year at the last sunday of this month). It's in my sig.

No, actually, this group is sort of lopsided; they have extremely high stats due to high rolls (5d6 re-roll 1's; one set of six rolls per player) putting them anywhere from an equivalent of a 48 to 55 point-buy. However their total party worth amog 9 PCs is about 40k at levels 5-6 (5 PCs are lvl 6, 4 PCs are lvl 5; and their total wealth is just slightly higher than 45k; I know they should have roughly 9k at lvl 5 in spent or in gear each and roughly 13k in gear or already spent gold at lvl 6).

I sort of level them slower since with their insane stats they level as if they were 2 lvls higher (heck, for the first 13 sessions they were still 1st lvl fighting goblins and bandits). Plus there's 9 of them, 11 if I include their cohorts so XP gets split up quite a bit.

The NPC will probably just get bored and leave, or he might want to get the PCs to help him kill one of his competitors. I'm pretty sure he could deal with a dozen red dragons easily, however an army of 15th lvl Githyanki could be a problem, plus an almost diety ranked lich queen. Maybe I'll at some later date send the PCs to recruit either Githzerai or even the Nameless Legion; since a Necropolitan might not get accepted as easily.

This might not happen at all though, and if it does it might not even be for a year real-time or more. An other two people of our gaming are going to be starting campaign as well (a shadowrunesque/intrigue Eberron one and a pirates of the high seas World of Warcraft one).
