I know for one thing that I want it to either be on the extreme ends of the scale...whether good or evil, I've yet to decide. If evil I'll be playing a half-blue dragon and if good then most likely silver. My question is what could make an interesting (note: not necessarily powerful, just interesting from an RP point of view) base race for the half-dragon template as well as what would make some interesting hooks for the character whether good or evil. I don't want a full blown background or anything, just some tips on making it an interesting character as well as some tips for playing those with dragon blood. Advice is appreciated. |

Is your character close to his parent does he do his/her evil bidding or aid is his/her rightous causes? was he raised by his draconic parent?. how does he feel about his draconic parent? I like the idea of being involved with the parent... either seeking to thwart them or aid them..... Blue dragon wants power and world domination do you: a) join them aiding them cackling occasionly saying yes master b) join them whilst biding your time to overthrow them c) run away and plot to thwart them d) confront them e) run off and try to forget them (loading your pockets with your inheritance:) ) f) commit suicide because daddy won't let you play Silver dragon parent seeking the betterment of the world do you: a)meditate and seek enlightenment b)start slaughtering every being you encounter because none are purely good c)aid your parent in bettering the world d)see c above e)see e above f) forge your own destiny but keep in contact with them the options are endless have fun with it :) P.S. if evil and associated with your parent it is vital that you bully their kobold minions mercilessly (koblod minions are a must) feel free to eat one or two to inspire the right aura of fear and awe |

Here are a few suggestions: - Troglodyte (both the Stench and breath attack are based on constitution) - Medusa (poison based on CON, Petrifying Gaze on CHA) - Satyr (music is based on CHA) - Lizardfolk, Gnolls or Bugbear - Ogre (large size - wings) - Troll (wings, good synergy if you have acid or fire immunity) Another cool suggestion: be a humanoïd cavalier, and have your mouth be another half-dragon, perhaps your brother! |

I left out numbers, and such, that's just the very condensed version. *NOTE* I also took the Red Dragon Bloodline from UA, mostly for flavor's sake If you want tips on RP, my character had traits like these for him: -very arrogant, and personally driven for power(as a red dragon blooded character, he has similar traits) -driven to increasing his power above all others -disliking, even hatred of Divine spellcasters. his belief is that they are merely borrowing power from their decadent and whimsical gods, and that they are weak because the power is not their own(goes back to arrogance). if the power doesn't come from yourself, it is false and weak -he's very respectful of warriors, and dragons, as he is nearly obsessed with his Draconic heritage, seeing them as the perfect race, ancient, wise, and with power rivalling that of the Outsiders, all of their own accord and natural power Each dragon type has a lot of room for roleplay as humanoid characters. They tend to have som really human characteristics, often times. |
