| TheWalkingLost12-04-04, 11:12 PM | Alright, so you build yourself an outcast Halfling, he has been socially tortured by his breathren to the point where he didn't like even living in the community... His friends actually came to be bears and his fighting style reflected it, though he still makes use of manufactured weapons as his 'claws' are not up to par... At least thats the background stuff... but this is what I am getting at. A meek, calmly halfling who isn't ovely socialble and you REALLY don't want to make angry. Halfling - Barbarian/Bear Warrior Bear Warrior doesn't have any stipulation on size, you can be 2' and 7" tall and you still turn into the full size bear with all the modifiers... So when the Orc bashes the 'little halfling' and he turns into a giant brown bear and proceeds to eat the orc tribe... well, its the stuff bard songs are made of. Just a thought |

| InkBlot12-14-04, 10:33 PM | Thats a great one! Exactly how feral will he be? What age did he leave the community at? Did you consider taking 3 levels of Ranger? Track, Wild Empathy, Endurance, and Two Weapon Fighting fit your idea like a glove. Tracking is what bears do, Endurance helps explain how he survived in the wild, Wild Empathy helps explain why the bears didnt eat him, and Two Weapon Fighting is probably the closest you can get to fighting with claws. | InkBlot12-14-04, 11:32 PM | Spiked gauntlets would work for that. Just say the spikes are protruding forward off your knuckles. However, if this character is comming straight out of the woods he probably wouldnt have more than a simple hand axe or dagger. And daggers held with the blade pointing down are reminiscent of fangs. Or maybe you could have a "morningstar" made out of a good solid branch with sharp teeth (bear teeth?) imbeded into it. It would be statistically the same as a morningstar, but with a much more primative flavor. |
| Jubei_the_Samurai12-26-04, 06:48 PM | ever thought of a halfling who hates anything bigger then him with a bow that when cocked makes the sound of a shotgun? Anyway, yes, a bear warrior halfling does sound like a funny idea, but how far would that take him, personality wise? |
| Iron_Peanut12-28-04, 02:53 AM | I loves my halfling barb. I just press all the buttons I see, kick in all the doors I come across, and then blame the wizard post-facto. After all, I couldn't be expected to read the warning labels, now could I? The claws are nice, but I like me the Monkey Grip feat from Compleat Warrior. Gets me a sword twice as long as I am tall. Ever read Terry Pratchett's Discworld series? The dwarves in it have a proverb: "All trees are felled at ground level." which is in fact the poorly translated version of "When his hands are above your head, your teeth are at groin level." |
