My friend is creating a roleplay-intensive game, my first such game, and I need some help with my character's back-story.

The Goliath tribe I'm from is as following: The goliaths in the north of the world were in much strife with the giant community, a brash young cheiftan led his tribe and (I beleive) several others south, to find a better life with less war.

My character I'm thinking will be the tribe's best scout, and have been sent by the cheiftan on a long journey to scout out more territory, find out about the southlands they have no experience with.. etc..

My big question right now is whether to go Druid or Barbarian.. The Barbarian would fit my roleplaying style better, but I think the Druid makes more sense, as they are typically the tribe's scouts..

Any other input would be appreciated as well.

Really the tribe could said a character of any class to scout out the new lands, it just depends what they already think is down there.

If they think that the lands are uncivilised and dangerous they are more likely to send of the more martial classes (fighter, barbarian, paladin, ranger, monk)

If the lands are full of cities and other races then they might send you down to spy on them (rogue, ranger, scout) or to be more of a diplomat for your tribe (bard, rogue, paladin)

As for the spell casting classes, they could be sent for any number of reasons. Perhaps as a druid, you know that there is a druid enclave down there and your going down to ask the local druid circle for help. A cleric might know that there is a temple of his faith somewhere in the new lands while wizard and sorcerers.... their is a well known school in the area.

Hope this helps a little.
