Anyway, for the last...well, few years it seems, I've had this idea for a character that I've just now decided to throw out and see if I can get some help to 'perfect' him. Quite basically, General Pojo is a goblin warrior of which no one is really sure if he's *actually* a general. Or if he ever was. The little guy talks big, but when it comes to actual combat, he's about as effective as a typical goblin. Little more than fodder. Still, his defeats greatly outweigh his most outstanding of victories, but because he is generally seen as harmless - a wandering village idiot, no one has thought to put the good General out of his misery. He's mostly knocked out and throw into an ally. But occasionally, General Pojo has incredible luck in combat leading to almost astounding victory. All of this, Pojo decrees, is just a testament to his skill. Now, of course, this isn't the case. Somewhere in between General Pojo's "glorious battles," a certain Goddess of Luck (Tymora, I'd like this to be an FR character) found him and his antics amused her. Pojo's fortune has soared ever since (though, he has always chalked this up to his abilities). I imagine General Pojo to be the atypical green-skinned goblin, with leather-fur patchwork armor. A dented, beat-up pot makes up his helmet (let it be known, that Pojo is quite the cook) and his weapon (I've yet to decide entirely) will either be a heavy copper or bronze sword (two-handed), or a big, heavy hunk of wood (club). He's a goblin, thus small, but its important for my mental image for him to be extremely off-balance while fighting with his large weapon of choice. The only item of obvious value that he has is a silver amulet on a hemp rope - this item he found in a forest seemingly at random while on his travels (found it, as luck would have it, around the time that Tymora decided to bless him). He has been told what the amulet is (a symbol of Tymora), but thinks nothing of it and keeps it around because of its shiny-factor, and the fact that he considers it to be good luck (he thought this before he was told *what* it was) I'm not sure exactly what class I want him to be, I'm kind of leaning something that has to deal with the 'blessing' that Tymora gave him (if that was the case, Pojo wouldn't be aware of it - one of the cases where the class chooses the character rather than the other way around). In the simplest scenario, I would see him as a fighter (maybe barbarian). I wouldn't want him more than level 2 (at max, level 1 would be preferred) to start off at. If the blessing doesn't take the form of a class-thing, I would put it as something attached to an item - like the amulet (though this doesn't have to be the case), his armor or weapon could've been enchanted during Tymora's blessing. Ideas for this would be awesome. And to clarify the Tymora's blessing thing - I don't want it seen as if something bad happens to Pojo, a goddess will intervene. I imagine it as Tymora coming down one evening, planting a kiss on Pojo's head and leaving it that way (Pojo would only remember it as a dream). She occasionally watches him, but doesn't play a direct role in his life. So there it is, a loud-mouth, somewhat-arrogant goblin character of whom the Goddess of Luck has smiled upon. Still subject to the incredible amount of failure that comes with a lowly goblin, but also occasionally subject to great bits of good fortune. Anyone have ideas on how best to make this little guy happen? |
