A barbarian is an illiterate and ferocious warrior, while a wizard is always studying his spellbooks. And it's impossible to cast spells while raging, save some Prestige Classes abilities. It's not impossible though. You could be a Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde kind of character. You are a calm and reserved wizard, keeping your pulsion inside yourself. But after a few researches on transmutation spells (Bull's Strength or perhaps Rage), experimented on yourself, you suddenly turn into an extraverti and wild man. You are suddenly able to kill tons of kobolds with your bare hands, enjoying the spilling blood. And when you are done with that, you must spend a few rounds to remember where you put your glasses.
