| CantripN02-02-07, 08:21 AM | Howdy, folks! I have an Ultimate Magus (Evoker/Sorcerer) in a Hack & Slash campaign. I'd like to flesh him out a bit. Alignment: Chaotic Neutral, almost CE on a power frenzy. Stats: Str 13, Dex 13, Con 16, Int 26, Wis 6, Cha 18 - Without items. Spells: as Evoker 11, Sorcerer 6. Feats of note: Practiced Spellcaster (Sorcerer), Force of Personality, Empower Spell, Sculpt Spell, Twin Spell, Explosive Spell, Arcane Mastery. Usually I play him as smart, cocky, overly confident, cynical, cruel and very loyal to the party (Up to and including threatening to Disintegrate the Cleric PC because he refused to Heal the Druid PC). If faced with Spell Resistance or powerful foes, he doesn't target their weak saves or AC. He instead cracks them open with brute force, Evoker style, with Overkill. For instance in a Duel he had with a Medium Blue Dragon, he bound it in steel using magic, cast Burning Blood, Unluck and proceeded to blast it to submission with Magic Missiles and Scorching Rays. The dragon surrendered in 1 round. He likes casting "Assay Spell Resistance" that along with his "Arcane Mastery' allows him to squash any SR. He also has a Ring of Wizardry I combined with a ring of Sustenance, which he uses to great effect. Now I'd like a backstory for the guy and some more personality tips. The campaign setting is a custom one, based in a post apocalyptic world all but ruined by a Lich in the past. A past to which we somehow got teleported a couple of sessions ago, and are now in the Lich's Flying Castle of DOOM. We killed him a day ago, but are yet to find his Phylactery. Also, my PC made a major NPC Paladin traveling with us Fall and become his apprentice as a Sorcerer. That NPC is the one that sent us to the Past in the Future, being an Archmage of some repute. |

| CantripN02-03-07, 02:46 PM | We came together by the power of Plot (tm). The DM had our employer band us together, and now we're still together since we've found we work well and better as a team. All I've got so far is I've been apprenticed to the Archmage, and I was a Sorcerer when he found me; I've since grown in power, and after working for some time as a Merc, he offered me a job (This one). I got the beefed Ring of Wizardry from him. |
| razhan02-03-07, 02:55 PM | have you read dragonlance? a main character in thera named Raistlin is very similar to your guy. he could be from anywhere and so we could make him a noble's mistake with a misterios *****. hence magic in the blood, were sent away bcuase of you powers. found by archmage and trained by him. loyalty is an odd thing for that character to have maybe dependence on friends has led you to need them like the ring of sustinance. |
| CantripN02-03-07, 03:07 PM | Heh. Yes, I've read Dragonlance, but a long, long , LONG time ago... Sounds like a good idea, that. I'll reread the series, anyhow. |
