For my friends upcoming campaign I was going to be a gladiator type character and be a retiarius. For all of you who don't know what that is, it is not a retarded gladiator it is a gladiator which wore only armor along the arm and used agility,a net and a trident as his weapons. Now my question is what would be the best way to develop this characters background ( Stormwrack Campaign) and what would be the best class build, such as feats, class, race and all of that "good stuff" :)

Thank you for reading my post and im looking forward to some replys.

I don't know much about Stormwrack but I have taken my share of latin classes. Aside from the obvious pole arm and net proficiencies (I forget whether or not they're exotic) you should ask your DM about the banded mail sleves. Could you get it to count as a buckler and still have the use of that arm? Gladiators are often criminals or citizens of conqured countries. Is your character a criminal or was he framed? Maybe he was a soldier for a good nation conqured by an evil empire and wants to topple it. Perhaps before being sold into slavery he was a hunter and hence the affinity for net and pole-arm. As for race, Human might be best though maybe Half orc or even dwarf. Class should be ranger or fighter. Ranger would be able to wield 2 weapons right off the bat (though I'm not sure if a net is light), Also you could get a lion animal companion and that would make for a quaint little archetype. I remember some feats from S&F that might help though not many of them off top my head. Power Attack, Dirty Fighting, Improved Grapple (considering that's what the net is for). Course a human fighter gets 3 feats at first level anyway so you could have Ambidextarity and Two Weapon Fighting easily and 1 feat to spare. Sorry I can't be more of a help. I'm at work therefore don't have any of my books.

In Complete Warriors there is a “Net and Trident” feat you should look at if you can get your hands on that book. I don’t have mine with me so I don’t remember exactly what it does, but it sounds right up your alley for a feat.

Its in a separate list of feats with other two weapon styles after the main list of feats in the book.
