I am designign a PC for a Gestalt campaign and want to use a Goliath (Races of Stone) as thebase race and be enchanted with the Mineral Warrior template (WotC website). He is a spiked chain fighter and will actually go into the War Hulk PrC.

Now I am laying with the idea of his 'vilage' destroyed by underdark denizens and enslavement to work - and turning him for work purposes in the underdark.

There is always magical torture.

I am pretty open to different ideas as well as thes two. If anyone has any unique or classic ideas let me know.

I kind of like him being a prisoner at one time or another so that he would learn to fight with chains from there or maybe had the ability before and used his own chains to escape. Let me know what ya'll think. Thanks, and remember suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Instead of killing all the village, you could just say your Goliath started a travel to "See the World" or for any other quest (buy stuff at dwarven city or other city in the plain). This gives a good plot hook for your DM if you ever want to return to your Goliath village.
Then you are captured by [INSERT EVIL UNDERDARK RACE HERE]. They capture you, they chain you, they make cruel experiment on your skin, turning you into a Mineral Warrior. The experiments could have corrupted your soul as well: from an happy going Goliath, you now have morbid ideas of mass-murder. You keep on fighting those ideas and evil tendencies.
You should start with a chain attached to your arms, doing 1d6 bludgeoning damage instead of 2d4 piercing. With a Craft: Weapon check, you could probably modify it into a regular Spiked Chain.

Nice, I particularly love the idea of the spiked chains on the wrists!
