I am creating a new Gnome Illusionist character who is gonna be a prankster--pain in the arse I know, but this party needs some comic relief. Anyway, what are some good pranks that you've seen in game.

Here's a couple I've been thinking of.

Saw a guy keep mage-handing a party members horse--lot's of riding checks--that was funny.

Touch of Idiocy in in certain situations could be funny.

Any creative use of spells that you know of, or other set-ups?

Thanks. :D

These spells are your best friends:

Grease
Mage Hand (goose!)
Presidgitation (See how the spell description talks about making things smell and taste better... the spell also works the other way too. Dwarven ale is always a good target for this one!)
Ghost Sound (Few things are funnier than a well-times rude noise. They can also be pretty loud to scare the crap out of someone.)
Silent Image (Great to create behind important people when they're making big speeches or trying to impress someone.)
Detect Thoughts (Great for embarassment purposes. Good combo is to Detect Thoughts, and then project a Silent Image of the target's thoughts behind them.)

Well, casting Alarm on someones chamber-pot would be nice.

Grease the stairs.

Ventroloquism with Preform (Whatever your DM says you need to sound like other people, I'd say Acting) can cause hilarious pranks (there's a story here, too- a few Sessions ago, some PCs were walking a lot, and I got an Encounter roll- but I had nothing planned. So I flip through the MM, and get to the little spirets.
I think I chose a Grig.
So, anyway, the PCs walk near an ancient oak when it says: "Bow and pay homage to Silvanus {god of nature in FR}!"
Later it asked them to leave a donation.
The PCs didn't want to.
Then one of them (the elven wiz) felt a hand in his belt pouch- a half man\half cricket was trying to pickpocket him!
He decided that the grig was working with the tree\god, and that they really needed money, so he gave the cricket\man a GP.
The grig then took the GP, laughed and fled.

I explained, barely containing my laughter, that he was duped.
His response?
"I can't believe it!
I've beem exploited by a cricket!"

Oh that was good!)

Also, cast Tasha's Hideous Laughter on people in solemn occasions- a funeral, talking with the king, in a religious ceremony, whatever.

I might be back with more!

The worst trick played on one of my characters was at a card game. As if strip poker isn't funny enough...

My character lost her underpants, but still was in the game with her upper body still clothed.

She sets the underwear on the table. They say, "*squish*"

Being all LN and not into jokes at her expense, she decides she's had enough "games with you idiots" and tries to leave. "Someone" starts Mage Handing her underpants around the room as the squishy sounds get louder. She starts chasing the offensive and loud undergarment with curses. Five in character years later she still has the occasional humor-minded mage who has heard the story (and when she finds out who keeps spreading this little tale... ) makes her pants "squish" on occasion as she walks through the streets.

Squish--that is too funny. How did they convince you to play in the first place?

Nice story too Savras, I'll have to try that the next time I DM.

We convinced her through a suggestion spell. Ahh the funny part and most ironic thing I have ever hear of is that she ended up marrying that mage who made her panties go squish. Amazing isn't it? Well she did later divorce him after he was found cheating on her...but he was a real bastard anyways.

I should know. I played him.

Evil-mean-might-get-them-killed-if-they-don't-kill-you-first-trick:

Look at Prestidigitation. No real saves, no spell resistance.
Cast it on the party's elf. Black skin, white hair. Lasts for one hour. Has no mechanical effect at all on them, but whoo boy the roleplaying. Do it as you walk into a bar.

I had a gnome bard once upon a time who was always getting into trouble with his pranks. Here are some that he did...

1. Dye a sleeping (or passed out) Dwarf's beard pink.
2. Ale/Acid switcheroo
3. Cast reduce on a female character's clothing..."Are you getting fat?"
4. Sovergn Glue has many, many uses.
5. "Kick me!" sign on the party barbarian.
6. Ask EVERY paladin repetedly if you can have a ride on his mount. If he won't share, then wait until he leaves and take it for a spin.
7. Smokepowder in someone's tobacco pouch.
8. Prestidigitation has unlimited and varried uses...a wet spot on someone's pants...etc

magic mouth on the chamberpot in the inn is always fun, and of course the things you can do with a sleeping dwarf's beard are endless. Ribbons anyone?

--Fiantha Pink ribbons with magic mouths that sing "I'm so pretty" as he walks. Put 'em in with Sovereign Glue. Dwarf either has to live with pretty pink ribbons in his beard that sing, or cut off his beard to get rid of them.

Oh what a hard choice for a dwarf to make. He loses every scrap of pride and self respect no matter what he does

Ask the paladin if you can touch his butt.

Often.

Tell him your culture considers it lucky to rub a paladin's butt.

(No paladin is safe in our town because of this one. However, the paladins of Sune don't seem to mind so much. :D )

A Sunite mind having his butt touched in a campaign where the average Charisma is a 16? I think not...

Wait, you're the guy who made Lanka's pants squish! :b: :behold: You don't want to know what she wants me to let her do to you, mister!

I am sure. Remember these words:

Lanka: Anything you want to tell me?

Danon: No not really....oh I have a clone of your mother in my Lab.

here's an interesting one I just came across:

ready an action against a charge (hopeful against a barbarian)
then grease the floor right in front of him
watch and have fun...

A guy in a game I was DMing was playing a fighter/mage, but he didn't want to let the other PCs know he was a magic user yet. They had just met, and he was a prankster. It was in the winter, and as they were setting camp for the night, he went off into the woods a bit from them with the pretense of making a nature call and cast Unseen Servant and gave it some very specific instructions. Then he came back to camp and pretended to sleep. While the female ranger was on watch, the Unseen Servant started going around the camp writing "DIE DIE DIE DIE" in the snow. I rolled a few spot checks for her, and she noticed the writing, and then started looking around in a panic seeing more and more of them. Then she actually saw the words forming with no one visible writing them. Well, she freaked out and started screaming and scared half the party to death, lol. He never did tell them in character that he was the one who had done that.

Create illusory dancing hamsters on the elf's head while he is meditating (silently wake up the other party members to enjoy the show).

Cloning your mother-in-law is not a good prank.

This one time, during a 2nd Ed game, I was playing a bard and the fighter in the party was a stuffy, quite greedy noble (old noble warrior kit). Anywho, the player of the fighter could be a bit of a metagamer, so I decided to get him AND his character at the same time. The party was travelling through a high mountain pass
during which time my bard periodically made pick-pocket checks to rob the noble warrior.... the player knew something was up because i kept sliding a note to the DM. However, I did't keep the money, I just threw it off the side of the mountain when the noble wasn't looking. After a few days of travel, the noble noticed that a crap load of his coin was missing and of course blamed the smirking bard. I let him search my stuff and even let the party cleric cast detect lie on me:
Q: Do you have the noble's gold?
A: Nope, not a single coin of it. (truth!!!)

It took the player weeks trying to figure out what had happened to his money. Some of his theories were really outlandish... but funny. I let him in on the gag finally and I think he laughed the hardest of the group.
