Chec k out Carnivale Sunday nights on HBO. It's about a traveling carnival traveling through the Dust Bowl in the 1930s. Among other things, it includes freaks, geeks, and a heavy dusting of supernatural elements. Focus particularly on the carnival's composition. It includes a blind magician, a bearded lady, "European muscle dancing," lots of barkers, Siamese twins, and other classic carnival elements. Good stuff.
