We are going to do a summer campaign where the party is going to be pirates/cutthroats. We are starting at 17th level (yikes, haven't every gotten above 12th). I decided to make a truly strange character, mainly for the fun of it but also not to show up the rest of the party. Not to be sexist but I'm the only guy besides the DM and the females in the group tend not to be the most strategic. Any way here he is:

Kobold named Zzat, I think I'm going to go with NE bard 4/druid 4/mystic theurge 9. Don't expect a jolly singing bard. Instead he plays the wood flute, and is pretty moody. He hates gnomes (if you decide to play a gnome, don't expect healing from him unless maybe if your a druid), and generally most other humanoids. Though he does value nature, its more from the survival of the fittest standpoint. He has a dire weasel animal companion, Hole Jumper, that he uses as a mount.

Those that he feels are not respecting nature, who are doing wanton damage to the environment and/or to the animal life are usually met with deadly force from Zzat or one of his many summoned allies. Transgressors get no second chances to harm the natural world. Though a druid, he has no desire to stay in some permenant location. He is looking for opportunities to exchange his services for the chance to explore the plane and punish the gnomes ... I mean defilers of nature. ;)

Any suggestions of what feats to pick would be cool, I'm already taking spell focus conjuration and augmented summoning. I am taking summon monster and curing (since this is really the only way evil creatures can "spontanous" cast cure) at each level for bard.

Please no comments on how stupid it is to take bard with mystic theurge, I KNOW IT IS. :D

Since it would seem to be a rather light-hearted game, I would recomend giving your character a rediculous nature deity to worship;

The Wondrous Mambo God (of Xenogears fame)
The Great Sky Goat, Ranzamtampferous
The Mongoose God Rikitikitavi (I think that was the name of a cartoon I saw when I was small)
If you're at sea, you could worship the Great Red Whale.

That way, the whole "smite the defilers of nature" thing could be a part of his worship. You know, edicts of the Wondrous Mambo God and all.

Have you thought of a weapon? I would recomend the full-sized club, and throwing it two-handed. Throwing may require spinning in a circle a few times to "build up momentum."

My first thought was to maybe make him a kind of voodoo type. Yet now after reading your post, I'm thinking maybe he might worship some idealized dragon turtle diety (dragon, kobold, draconic, you get the picture).

As for weapons, I'll probably just stick with a small club (bab is low enough as it is), but I don't see him as a melee fighter anyway. Does shillelagh still work if you throw a club? Or is only when you are holding it?

If you want something kinda neurotic check out Foamy (http://www.illwillpress.com), a neurotic little squirrel that likes to complain and bag lots of things. It would go good with your kobalt.

<Read Kobalt with a high pitched voice>
Kobalt: You know what I hate about gnomes.
Party: What?
Kobalt: It is that they like to sing. Have you ever heard them sing? I was just sitting down one day and some gnome comes up and says, "yo dude, wanna tune?" And I was like "if that was you torturing that cat over there..."

and so on and so on....
