Damn.... i wanted to read the great background :(

Owell, dont try and make it sound necro or dead-ish... its been done to death, just try and use a victorian age name, such as Vincent, Tabias Marcus or Whinston.

They sound corny.. but they kinda suit the old fashioned look that i believe goes with necromancers.

Hope this helps.

heh... you probably love the name Szass Tam because there's a character in the Forgotten Realms setting with that name. He is a powerful lich and the zulkir of Necromancy in Thay (quite possibly making him the most powerful necromancer in all of Faerun).

Actually, I've got this idea of playing as a necromancer or similar spellcaster (evil in nature) and giving him a normal name, but giving him the epithet "the Worm" or something similar. I think he'll rather like it, and certainly stick to that epithet hard as he gets powerful. You might try to come up with something similar (don't take mine! :P) for your character- something out of the ordinary that your character likes because of its effect.

^_^ This is know, I played as him...one session we put a new meanin to the words, role playing...we had Drizzt, Szass, silverhand and blackstaff....btw how is Szass Tam pronounced?

I pronounce "Szass" similarly to "sauce" with a hard Z sound at the beginning, and "Tam" similarly to "ram." I have no idea if it's right, though.

i'm playing around with the idea of playing a dread necromancer, a dwarf, i called him Ivar Coldstone...turns out his great, great, grandfather was a brewer and a wizard, and was famous for creating a method for keeping ale cold in special magicly created stone kegs called coldstones

Make the character have a title "The Rot of.." something-o-rother

His minions and "friends" refer to him as "The Rot" like one might say "Captain" or Chief"

"If you want the Helm of Canildon, you have to talk to The Rot"

The name might be Bastor Jenulian, The Rot of Perghast or something like it.

Why not choose a name from the horror genre for your character?

Dario, Argento, Romero, Savini, Kubrick, Fulci, Voorhees, Meyers, Scrimm...

I know! Mitch the lich...

You could always go with something from classical literature, like Dante or Vergil, or if you want somethink really different, llok at a star chart. Vega, Castor, Pollux, Deneb. All make great names.
