i am going to be in a waterworld campaign soon, basic story is that a little like in the noah's arc scenario the world has been flooded but the waters have not subsided, and um nopt everyone died, theres a substantial part of the population left, but they have taken to the waters living on boats, floating cities and mountain tops etc dwarves and halflings are rare apparently. so i decided a half orc pirate would be quite cool, not a swashbuckling pirate more of a brute force and ignorance pirate. i am thinking of going down the eye of grumush prestige class route possibly, but thats not important at this stage, i need ideas for his appearance. and any thopughts on the half orc pirate idea?

If you become an Eye of Gruumsh, I hope there is no elf in your party, since it could create some tension. I mean, an half-orc could get along with an elf; it would be harder if this half-orc is worshipping an orcish deity, even harder if this deity is Gruumsh himself, and quite impossible if he is a fanatic of Gruumsh. At this point, I think it would be hard to get along with anything else than an orc.

About the mechanics, it depends how harsh is your DM. If he calls a balance check each round you are on a boat, it would be good to take a level or two of rogue.

IN a general way, an half-orc, brutal pirate is a good idea. You could be using an heavy crossbow or a mighty composite longbow to attack foes when you are on your boat, and then drop it for your axe when you can melee them.

As for the apparence, anything can be good, from the traditional bandana to the tricorn. If you plan on worshipping Gruumsh, an eye-patch is a must-have.
