I am going to be palying in a "back to basics" campaign using only the 3 core books from 3.5
The stats will be 15,14,12,10,8
We are starting at either 1st or 2nd level and he will start out as a rouge.
I am thinking of playing a halfling by the name of Guido Halifax. The last name might change if I come up with something better, but I am sticking with Guido.
I am going to be using my copy of The Big Book of RPG Practical Jokes and Pranks to pull off lots of fun stuff, yet he is going to be very serious whenever not playing pranks. I haven't though of much more besides the fact that he is going to be CG or CN in alignment, and I am going to have him with 1 diamond stud earring. BTW he is going to be male in case you couldn't tell.
Any help, on what kind of history I could have for him or any help at all would be much appreciated.

well you, considering your goign to make him a wizard you could either say eh is a self taught wizard from stealing spell books then takign the time to learn the arts, or he attended a wizards school. If your starting at level 1 that will be a little more difficult to do becasue you will probally start with rogue.

But being a halfling, and loving to play tricks. You could say that he was part of a traveling halfling caravan then broke off in search of some new cantrips and never went back realizing the wolrd was much bigger than he anticipated.

just some thoughts.

...or perhaps did you never found the caravan.

You could start up as a rogue who despise wizard, but is only jealous of their powers. But you steal their spellbooks and study it in secret, and invent some excuse for the few misshaps you provoke...

you could be a halfling thief who entered an old wizards study only to find him dead(natural death) and when you tried to leave, all the exits closed.

Luckily for you a permanent unseen servant serves meals at regular hours.

You had no choice, but to study magic in order leave the room.
