| Hola11-08-05, 07:53 PM | Please yell at me if this belongs in the FR boards. So I've created a concept of a CG goastwise halfling cleric of Tempus. I want him to be more of a fighter than most clerics but more about coolness fighting not really worried about actual statistical effectiveness. Im thinking of Rashmen for my place of origin but I really havnt gone beond that. I was wondering if anyone had any good ideas for childhood, how he came to tempus ect. will be level 5 so he's had some adventureing. So if you have anything you want to bounce around please speak Im in a rut.(will probably have a mullet and flying mount...don't know why) |
| Hola11-09-05, 08:20 PM | or dont say anything |
| Uberwoot11-09-05, 09:29 PM | Well, I really wasn't going to say anything, but now you've really stirred a sore point (I've made several threads on other boards that just died away :P), so I'm going to have to pick at this. First of all, your post definately belongs here rather than the FR boards. One place that is a frequent place of origin for priests of Tempus is the Dalelands- specifically Battledale, where there is a monastery (or abbey, or something like that) dedicated to Tempus. Tempus is not the most popular deity for halflings, but that certainly does not put your cleric out of the question. If you're not set on coming from Rashemen, you could have him come from the Dalelands; perhaps he joined the monastery (at least initially) just to escape the farming life, and either came to understand Tempus's teachings and embrace them, or at least accept them as a way to defend his former life. |

I figured with the mullet, the flying mount and the CG you should be a hockey player kind of cleric So to that end, just imagine a small mullet haired CG hockey goon *** Medium to heavy armour(half plate) - but not enough to seriously limit your dex bonus.{imagine hockey gear} Boots of striding would allow you to 'glide' along fairly fast for a halfing {skating} *** Hockey Stick version 1: Take a big stick ( quarterstaff would be best but a club would work as well ) and have a druid 'create' you a weapon with the spell "Shellilagh". Since you are 5th level it's a weapon you could have without much problem. Want to be even more hockey-goon-like take two weapon fighting quarterstaff. Jab with one end then smack with the other ;) Hockey Stick version 2: Combat Expertise, Improved Trip and a halbard would also work as a 'hockey' type attack - if you have a really good reflex save get lots of the "Grease" scrolls and have even more fun with the halbard. There's also a Spinning Halbard Weapon Style feat in one of the books - can't remeber which book though. *** Hockey Puck and in keeping with defending your people :) You could also get the exotic weapon halfing throwing stones that look like small hockey pucks - Halfing skipping stones is what I think they were called. *** Can you tell me anything about the deity? |
| Hola11-12-05, 06:02 PM | sorry for not posting Ireally thought no was going to post after all this time, I've settled with the name Za'atar(as in the spice) because someone made a joke about that being a good name. Basicly tempus is a god of war, not good or evil just fighting for what "you" think is right. So you could have two clerics fighting each other if they had very different opions on say slavery. My characters goign to be kind of a browler type so I think some macho traits could make him interesting. Actualy Im not that desperate for help anymore but I still love to here your guys thoughts. Maby thick glasses wire around his fists and two brothers that look exactly like him, I love slapshot. |

Tempus is a common barbarian deity, though less common among the Halflings, who tend to maintain the Halfling pantheon, but certainly not something to avoid for that reason. The childhood thing could easily revolve around your standard barbarian childhood; games of strength, wandering, survival, etc, learning the glory of battle/conquest, calling out to Tempus to guide your swings... Perhaps your particular ferver for pleasing Tempus caught the eye of the tribal shaman or something, who began instructing you in how to gain the power of Tempus. Of course, shamen are somewhat feared among their tribes due to the general barbaric fear of magic; yet they hold a place of regard/esteem because of their power as well... The flying mount is a little unusual for an individual from a normally barbaric race worshipping a barbaric god... might want to give plenty of thought into why/how on that one. |
