| mrkipodi07-08-05, 10:24 AM | Well, I currently play a character in a D&D Campaign, His name is Dirk, He's... Evil, LE, an Assasian, Loves poison and the likes. His brother, Loui, Sacrificed himself to get the party out of an endless dreak (long story). Now, the two brothers were close, very close. Loui controled a Guild (Playing birthright, DM made rules, d20), he has a Wife and a young child (baby). What do you forsee the affect of Loui's death will be on Dirk? I'm having a hard time trying to figure any option, Will he Redeem? will he stay the same? will there even be a slight sign of change? thx alot. :) |
| No-man07-08-05, 10:56 AM | So they were very close. Sounds like Dirk should impersonate Loui and take over the guild. He could also take care of the family Loui left behind. But seeing as they were so close, perhaps Dirk would look for a way to bring Loui back. |
| guarnasco07-08-05, 11:01 AM | I largerly depends on the nature of the closeness of the 2 brothers... was Dirk present during the sacrifice? Was Loui good or else? What is the nature of the guild? (thief guild, alchemist guild, illegal one or it runs lecit trades?) Did Dirk have any relation with Loui's wife? |
| mrkipodi07-08-05, 11:06 AM | well, Bringing Loui back isn't an option, not only that it is very unacceptable, in the world of Birthright you need "Blood Powers" to rule your domain (Guild, Province, Temple or source) and a Resurructed being loses her Bloodpower.(And the player rather make a new charecter anyway) Dirk becoming more like Loui is simply... not likely. And yes, Dirk is going to Recieve the Management over the guild anyway, at least until Loui's son, Loui the 2nd (very original ^^) will be old enough to control it. Oh, and another matter, Every person in our party recived one wish, I would like to use it for Roleplaying matters, any ideas? Thanks again for the help. |
| mrkipodi07-08-05, 11:10 AM | I largerly depends on the nature of the closeness of the 2 brothers... 1. was Dirk present during the sacrifice? 2. Was Loui good or else? 3. What is the nature of the guild? (thief guild, alchemist guild, illegal one or it runs lecit trades?) 4. Did Dirk have any relation with Loui's wife? 1. yes, it wasn't very "heroic", basicaly gave up himself so that we can leave the "dream". 2. Loui was Neutral, but leaning towards evil. ( or so it seems.) 3. the guild is midly legit midly non-legit, it runs trade routes as it's main source of money, but has some "dirty" buisness in the side. ( the guild is more of a game mechanic) 4. no, Dirk has respect to but one person, Loui, he would never do that. (though the death of Loui might make Dirk feel that he has to fill the gap) |

Wish Loui back. Problem solved. |

| Need_A_Life07-08-05, 11:40 AM | Have him care for the family. I'd probably retire the character and try another concept. |
| mrkipodi07-08-05, 11:48 AM | Have him care for the family. I'd probably retire the character and try another concept. I rather not retire, for two reasons, the first is that he's the funnest char i played for now, and second he's the only evil char left in the party :X will make nice conflicts. |
| No-man07-08-05, 12:09 PM | A resurructed being loses her Bloodpower.(And the player rather make a new character anyway) But a Wish is different than resurrection. Ahh forget it, if the player wants a new character anyway. OK, so not coming back..... |
| mrkipodi07-08-05, 12:10 PM | If it helps, the party is made of: me, Assain, LE. Zitwik, Wizard LN. Hedrian, Cleric, Goody good (LG ^^). Gerard, Warrior, No actualy Alignment, does what will make his Char more powerful. to be- ____, Fighter, LG. (Loui's player) |
| No-man07-08-05, 01:02 PM | Well since bringing bro' back is out of the question, make sure the family is taken care of, ruthlessly take control of the guild, and it's business as usual. |
| Molot07-08-05, 04:42 PM | You can send brother's family to meet with him. In hell, for example. (To evil? ]:> But you don't want your brother to be lonely down there, don't you?) About the wish: you all may go back in the time (1 wish), clone your brother (2'nd wish) and come back (3'rd wish). Of course the clone would be the one to die. In high magic world there is always a way to bring someone back. Always. |
| No-man07-08-05, 04:44 PM | That's pretty evil, but mercifully so. And you get all the brother's stuff. Of course you could always rape his wife first, depending on exactly HOW evil you are. :P |
| SgtHulka07-08-05, 06:18 PM | I tend to think of Lawful Evil either as Totalitarian (Stalin, Hitler) or Mafia-related. This isn't the only way to think of it, of course, but it's the way I do. Using the Mafia as inspiration, one possibility would be, as others mentioned, to dedicate your life to the "protection" of your brother's family and the "memory" of your brother's honor. In a twisted Lawful Evil mind, that might mean discovering every individual who ever said something disrespectful of your brother, and doing them in. "Protection", in a lawful evil way, often means pre-emptive strike. Begin analyzing your brother's guild...determine who might be potential rivals to your nephew. And kill them. Meanwhile, determine ways to improve the Guild's power and profits. So most of the guild's business is legitimate -- so what? There's probably more profit to be had shifting its interests to illegal activities. In your twisted Lawful Evil mind, you probably would think you're doing your nephew a favor. Also, you want to be sure and teach your nephew proper values -- like kill before being killed, that it's better to be feared than loved, the strong should lord over the weak, and so forth. |
| mrkipodi07-08-05, 06:44 PM | Thank you all for the suggestions, and to all you phsycos that suggested to kill his family ( I like you) I feel that it doesn't Fit the Character. You all helped alot :) |
| guarnasco07-09-05, 03:49 AM | 1. yes, it wasn't very "heroic", basicaly gave up himself so that we can leave the "dream". 2. Loui was Neutral, but leaning towards evil. ( the guild is more of a game mechanic) 4. no, Dirk has respect to but one person, Loui, he would never do that. (though the death of Loui might make Dirk feel that he has to fill the gap) Well: 1,2 and 3: The sacrifice will leave your evil assasin quite shattered, or at least pzzled, I mean, his brother whom he trusted and respected wasn't a goody 2 shoes type, yet he choose to surronder his life to save the day. Dirk will probably react being bitterd, blaming himself and the rest of the survivors for the death of the brother. A good plot twist will be him turning more lawfull than evil, taking over the guid and taking care of Loui's family. It could even conduce\ to the creation of some sort of wellfare organization for the guild members, guaranting retirement, healtcare, "resurrection insurances" for most dangerous buisnesses, CREATING IN THE END A MORE RESPECTED AND SOCIALLY ACCEPTED GUILD. This might as well have an Evil twist: the fees versed could conduce to a really large amount of money, to be invested and controlled by Dirk who migth use it as he want (really fittingly the aims of the setting IMO) 4 In many archaic societies it was expected to an ummarried broder to take with him, as a wife, the widow. It still happens a lot, expecially in poligamistic cultures. How does he feels twards Louis 2? |
| letsbefrank07-18-05, 11:34 AM | Take over the guild Use it as a cover to build an up an army of assasins etc Marry the wife or secretly kill anyone else that tries to "protect" the ,memory of your brother. Hire the "best" teachers for the brat and bring him up to be the BBEG of nightmares. Use the guild and assasins to take over the town/city/country/world |
