| Shanga the half-elf bard06-12-05, 12:13 AM | Please give some background ideas for my half-elf monk. Like why he became a monk a so on and so forth. thankyou |
| braindead34506-12-05, 03:16 AM | Parents died and he was raised in a monestary is too cliche, but it could work. However, let's try a twist and use a standard half-orc background instead. Why can't a half-elf be the product of rape? Say the character's mother was a respected elf noble that was raped by a human (obviously an evil type). A new found hatred for humans made her decide to abandon the baby and leave it for humans to raise. Knowing nothing of the elvish way of life, the character took to the lawfully ordered society he was raised in. Impressed by the lifestyle and talents of monks from a nearby monestary, the character joined the order upon reaching maturity. This back story is fine, but you will need to modify your racial languages if he has had no previous contact with elves. Ask your DM for guidance. |
| dorkknight2306-12-05, 08:58 AM | A different idea: half-elves make great diplomats, due to their racial bonus on Diplomacy. What if this monk isn't a "monk," or wouldn't call himself that, but rather, a "diplomat." His unnarmed training comes in handy when negotiations go sour. Add a feat like Negotiator, or Skill Focus (Diplomacy,) and you're practically good to go. He serves some human or elven power (a church, state, powerful indvidual, etc.), and has been trained to serve as a representative for a very long time (since childhood.) |
| Shanga the half-elf bard06-12-05, 06:20 PM | Thanks hey what about combining both of your ideas. Like his mother an elf was raped by a evil human and his mother left him an the steps of a monestary because she was too ashamed to admit she was raped. When he is grown up he leaves the monastary to spread the word of the church while vanquishing evil along the way. Does anybody els have something to change or add thanks again :) |
