Hello all. I was hoping I could get some help from you crazy people.

I'm having trouble figuring out what race and psionic discipline to use for a character in an upcoming campaign. I'm not sure what level he'll need to be. What I've figured out, is that he KNOWS (although I'm not even sure why) that he is on a mission from some god (currently unknown to him) to do or find something, and is therefore, invincible.

His motto is: "Life is full of choices. Sometimes you make good ones, and sometimes you have to kill all the witnesses."

What race and psionic discipline should I use? The two disciplines that stick out the most are Psychoportation and Psychokinesis.

Well, Elan would be a good idea for a race, just wipe his memory before he was an elan and just make him think he is human. Also, just make some sort of subliminal (spelling?) message implanted in him (if the whole god thing is false) during the change from human to elan.
OR
If it is actually true, that he has been chosen by a god, then perhaps the god himself (who is a god of psionics.. if there is one) actually changed him into an elan. Therefore, no existing elan societies would be count them as one of their own, or even recognise that he is one of them.

Anyway, as for what psion class to take, it really depends on how you want to play the character. Stealth and subterfuge, blowing sh*t up or just mind-f*cking people.

Hope at least some of this helps, good luck.

I'm also playing a Psion right now and I choose an elan as my race. I personally think it is the best one, it gives you some really great racial abliities and bonus power points. Also I took Psychokinesis as my discipline and I'm kind of regretting it, if you really enjoy blasting stuff though you'll enjoy it. With energy missile you can take out a lot of things fast at low levels, even at higher it will deal quite a bit of damage. I was going to be a Psychometabolism because you get Metamorphosis and then with the metamorphic transfer feat it will let you use a supernatural power of the thing you transfer into it, which can be quite powerful, but my GM banned the feat. But in hind sight I still kind of wished I had taken that as my discipline cause they seem to get alot of good powers, just remember though that you can also take expand knowledge if you want to invest into another dispcliplines power.

I also played an Elan Psychokinetisist, the ability spen powerpoints on reducing damage and increasing saves is priceless. I agree with Fithero in the fact that elan would seem to fit your character based on the limited information you have given us. More info please if you want anything detailed. The motto of "Life is full of choices. Sometimes you make good ones, and sometimes you have to kill all the witnesses." is a good start and makes me think Kinetics more than anything else as it tends to be best when you absolutely positively got to kill every mother&^$@#$ in the room.

Just going off the motto he seems to be a self centered pragmatist, who is doing what he does for his own benefit and is not going to let any one get in his way, he is going to make his own decisions and deal with the concequences when they arrive, probly with a hefty doseage of disintergrate. Running with this stream of thought I wonder why he doing the bidding of this unknow god unless there is something he really wants that he will get at the end. I imagine him cursing the god as wades through his enemies, keeping tabs on all the things it cost him to get to his goal expecting to be fully refunded for his efforts. "I mean really who do these gods think they are, all powerfull beings and I am here getting blood and dirt and god knows what ever that is, on my shirt, doing thier dirty work" For some reason I see him as taking great pride in his appearance and clothes and is liable to go postal when someone gets him dirty let alone makes him bleed his own blood.

Well thats me way out here on this tangent, how did I get all the way out here? Any way I hope this helps.

Okay, cancell all of that. I got to looking at the Thri-Kreen. I was particularly interested in the bit about them being hunters and nomads. The nomads bit really stuck out at me, so I started looking at the Psychoportation Discipline. All of the sudden, the perfect (for me) concept jumped out and rolled a critical upside my head. A Transporter.

For those of you who haven't seen the movie "The Transporter," it's basically about this guy who get's paid to transport stuff of a dubious nature for/to shady people. That's basically where I want this Thri-Kreen of mine to go.

What feats would you suggest for such a character?

Ooops, forgot to mention, he's 16th ECL. Thri-Kreen 4 LA+HD/Nomad 12.

Tik-Tik grew up on the edge of the plains. When he was very young, a group of adventurers came through the camp of his clutch, trading and telling tales of their adventures. Tik-Tik was very interested in the strange tales they told of far away places. Suddenly, his own life seemed meaningless and hollow.

The next time a group of adventurers passed by, Tik-Tik scraped together what little he had and basically bribed the adventurers into taking him with them. One of the adventurers, a Psion Nomad, took Tik-Tik under his wing and tought him to discipline himself and focus the power in his mind.

Over the next couple of years, Tik-Tik went many places, on this plane and others. Tik-Tik was surprised at the extreme variation in the types people he saw. Gradually, Tik-Tik learned that some of them would pay him for the use of his powers, especially where transport was concerned.

Tik-Tik understood that the people who hired him weren't the most savory people, but he didn't really care. He simply loves seeing new things, places, and people as well as getting paid. He's not exactly greedy, but he knows that money helps him get the job done. He basically does whatever he thinks is necessary to get the job done, but isn't likely to go to unreasonable extremes to do it.

He only has a few rules:

Rule One: Never change the deal.
Rule Two: No names.
Rule Three: Never look in the package.
Rule Four: Payment as follows: Half on accepting the job, half on delivery.
Rule Five: Should difficulties arrise in transit, it is up to Tik-Tik's discretion whether or not to complete delivery. Regardless, the initial payment is non-refundable. The package will be returned to the pick-up point at an undetermined time. If the law causes the trouble, the client has the option (at the time the deal is made) to have the cargo disintigrated. No extra charge.

So what do you think? I feel like I should add some more rules, but I can't think of any. I jacked the first three from the movie "The Transporter," the fourth and fifth are from the movie "The Jackal," but I can't remember what his other rules were. Any suggestions?

Oh, yeah. What kind of personality do you think this guy (?) would have?

One thing, though, I have decided that he will still have the attitude of "Life is full of choices, sometimes you make good ones, and sometimes you have to kill all of the witnesses." But that's more of a professional kind of thing.

Ooooh, just had a really nifty idea. It's sort of cannibalistic, but not evilly so. Basically, Tik-Tik (and those of his clutch,) think that the greatest honor you can render to a fallen comrade is to eat them, ala Stranger in a Strange Land. The idea behind it, is that a persons soul doesn't "disappear" when they die, it dissipates into the earth as it rots. If one were to eat the body before it could rot, then the soul of the fallen comrade would become, forever, a part of the eater.

I can just imagine the looks on his party's face when he looks at them and says "I look forward to eating you, someday," in a very matter-of-fact tone.

Anyway:

Tik-Tik, as an enterprising businessman, recognizes the need for a semi-professional appearance. He knows that most people (who would require such services as he provides,) aren't going to want to hire some six-limbed mostly-naked monster wearing a loin-cloth. Tik-Tik wears a Glamered studded-leather jack (Monte Cooks AU) that is usually appears as a plain white shirt. Over this, he wears a special sleeveless Tunic of Arachnida, which is of black silk, with a faint gray tracery appearing as stylized spider webs. For pants, he wears specially tailored silk trousers. To maintain his cleanliness and the appearance of his clothing, he has a Ring of Prestidigitation that is constantly in effect.

He carries a Haversack with most of his gear in it. On his primary arms, he wears Bracers of Armor with a Praying Mantis motif. On his secondary arms, he wears specially crafted Gloves of Holding. Around his neck is a Circlet of Persuation, the pendant of which appears as a crystal gythka.

CONSTRUCTIVE criticism and ideas would be most appreciated.
