How's this character background:

Level 2 Rogue/Level 1 Swashbuckler
Human, Age 19

Name = ***** (aka Dag)

Background =

Gomareer Corellian, Dag’s father, was a very high level wizard. He was extremely well respected through out the land but had a tendency to frequent brothels. One day, in the city of Gilgh, he accidentally impregnated a drug addicted prostitute named Ilessra with twins. Gomareer, not knowing of this little accident, soon traveled onward disappearing into the distance. Two years later Ilessra finally found and contacted Gomareer and informed him of the incident. They each agreed to take one child and forever go their separate ways…

Dag was brought up by his father traveling across the lands to various cities. When Dag was old enough, his father planned to teach him the ways of arcane magic, but his dreams came abruptly to an end. At the age of 12, Dag’s father was killed by an assassination party of 3 high level forsakers and 1 assassin for reasons unknown. Witnessing the murder, Dag decided to forever keep his real name a secret and forever vowed to gain revenge on the assassination party.

All alone in the world Dag did whatever he could to get food/money and survive in this cruel world. He begged, stole, and even killed to get ahead. At the age of 15 he realized his quickness was his greatest asset and soon developed a great affinity towards daggers. A dagger was cheap, easy to conceal, and great at slitting people’s throats. After observing others and training for a bit he learned the ways of a rogue and learned how to use two daggers at once. It all came pretty naturally to him. At 16, still being all alone and out on the streets he developed a dangerous drug addiction. He tried to fight off the addiction but couldn’t.

At the age of 18, he finally shaped himself up and got over the drugs. It was at this point that he realized he was much smarter than a majority of the world and he wanted to use this to his advantage. He decided to visit the dueling arenas and observe the fighter’s techniques, their skills, their way of movement to further increase his skills.

After one match, Dag decided to congratulate the daring swashbuckler on his victory over the axe wielding Minotaur and wanted some advice on how to improve. The swashbuckler, obliged by the flattery, happily accepted to help Dag out. The swashbuckler soon learned of Dag’s exquisite proficiency with daggers and thus gave him the nick name of Dag. He taught him the ways of a swashbuckler until he died in a duel.

Dag then decided to venture out in the world, traveling from city to city, to try and learn new methods and continue his progression in becoming the best dagger user in the world.

You should have him seek the path of arcane enlightenment as his father did(Even though an exp penalty comes with it. You could work something out with your DM pretaining to it, maybe a feat or something similar). Perhaps just to seek the ability of invisibility (Maybe as an excuse to himself, so he doesn't seem to just be doing it because his father did). Or to keep the spirit and memory of his father alive.

Hmm yes. That would be interesting.... But I don't think my character really would want to do that any more. He never really knew his father much and by erasing his name from everyone's memory, he trying to lean towards not following. He wants to avenge him, he just doesn't really want to lean towards the arcane side if he's going to be fighting forsakers... If that makes sense... He saw where his father failed and is trying to improve on it. But thanks a lot for the advice!! That does give me some thinking to do and I really like it. Thanks again.

Anyone else care to read and help me out a little? I'm also having some problems developing his personality. I always thought for some reason that low charisma = no personality, and high charisma = great personality. While this may be true to some extent it's certainly not completely true. You can easily have a really bad personality instead of no personality at all. I came to this realization last week while observing my brother and trying to give him DnD stats. I figured out, that even though he has such a powerful personality, it's still a really bad personality and no one likes him (I ended up giving him a 4, if anyone was wondering :cool:). So anyways, this is basically what I got to work with:

True Neutral
Human
Charisma = 8
Wisdom = 8
Intelligence = 16

This is what I have so far:

Incredibly cocky, and believes he can do anything better than anyone else.
He will do anything for his friends (no matter what the cost).
He will kill his enemies in the worst ways imaginable (ripping out eyeballs after death, etc).

EDIT: Oh and he will use any law, or break any law as long as it is advantagous (is that a word?) to him or his friends or it will seriously hurt his enemies.

That's all I got. I was thinking of making him rediculously serious as well, but I'm not really sure yet. Most likely, I will though. So any help on the background or personality would be great.

I promise you some kind of useful comment, if you break up your previous posts into paragraphs. The comment will sit neatly in this space.

I believe that killing peoples for money is pretty evil. Since he is a loner, this character could have learn how to use daggers in order to defend himself against less virtuous thieves. It could have been so far that he refused to join some guilds and killed some low level thieves of that guild, letting a great hook for your DM.

Also, you could say that he foughta few years his drug addiction, but each time the same drug dealer offered him some dose as a gift, only to push your character further in his addiction. And he once decided to kill the dealer.
