| Brashen10-30-06, 11:15 PM | I need suggestions in creating a Brawler type of Character. I'm thinking something that looks like the hulk and whose main attack is to just pound things with his/her fist. Any suggestions on Race and Class/es would be most helpful? |

He used a fighter/rogue (I think) and the Reaping Mauler prestige class from Complete Warrior in conjunction with spiked armor (he didn't need the armor, but it was the thought that counts - I think the enemies got the "point"). It was actually a fairly effective character; tore up mages (evasion + grappling = dead wizard), effectively countered weapon-wielding warriors, and created a situation for rogues where the DEX didn't count, plus, he was a better fighter than they were. The only thing I remember him having a problem with was larger critters. I think a huge dragon actually ended up doing that character in. Just focus your feats around improving your ability to get into a grapple quickly, effectively grapple the opponent, and stay alive while doing so. |

Also definetley Reaping mauler, though I hate that imp. grapple isnt a prereq. and I think it should give you a bonus to grapple that scales as you advance in level. The brawler is one of my favorite concepts though. Also, for larger monsters, theres a feat in CW that gives you a bonus to grapple depending on the size of what your grappling. |
