| thewaywardsoul08-05-04, 01:32 AM | My friend is going to start Dming the return to the temple of elemental evil soon.I heard its tough, but i've been playing D&D for quite some time. This is my character for it: Ghauvesz (cursed blood) Tarfein (sorrowsong), male drow. Im using the demon blood line from Unearthed Arcana, for Ghauvesz's grandsire was a demon of considerable power. Ghauvesz is'nt evil, and is most definetly not good in a way like all the dual scimitar wielding Drizz't Do'urden clones out there ;) The Tarfien family was a family of high nobility in a drow city by the name of Sthay'Rothr (an underdark city my friend made up in his past campaign). They were 3rd house, and in a comfortable seat of the ruling council (as comfortable as a drow matron might get, especially one known to thirst for grand amounts of power). Nalredeu, Gauvesz's grandmother was without a patron when the 5th house attacked house Tarfein. She and her fellow Tarfein priestesses had been formulating a plan for decades, intending to make the house blood stronger , and decided to unleash it upon the time of the house war. Nalredeu unleashed a swarm of demons upon the 5th house, leaving naught of them but their slick blood flowing through the allys. After the 5th house was grinded into the floor, Nalredeu summoned a balor to produce children for Tarfein, but Datarii, the summoned balor made a deal with Nalredeu. He said that that he would help give birth to 10 children. For every child that lived to maturity, house Tarfein would live, unfettered by the balor's minions for 150 years.Once these years were spent, Datarii and his minions would strike terrible payment through drow blood on Tarfein.Driven by greed, and lust, Nalredeu accepted the deal. 5 priestesses were each granted 2 children by Datarii. The matron mother of the first house, knowing the scheme of Nalredeu, hired a band of assasins to make sure that she stayed in the first seat of the council, and Nalredeu, and her bastard drow children, did'nt. The assasins managed to kill 3 of the pregnant priestesses. Not including Nalredeu and one other. Nalredeu concieved Brakawf, a lowly male, and Marsithaem,Ghauvesz's mother at the same time the other impregnated women gave birth. One of the lowlier priestesse's child died at birth, Nalredeu killed the women herself for giving birth to such a weak child.Only 3 of the half fiends remained, for 450 years Tarfein was safe. Though Nalredeu never told the half demon children the evil pact. :schemes: 150 years after her birth Marsithaem slipped a dagger into Nalredeu's chest and took control of house Tarfein.Brafawf grew to become a highly esteemed mage and was slain at he age 170 by a student at the arcane academy he led. Several years later Marsithaem found Belgos, a skilled swordsman and soon made him the patron of house Tarfein.Nearing the age of 330, Marsithaem gave birth to several children including Ghauvesz, elderboy of Tarfein.Marsithaem also concieved 4 drow women and Dutru, Ghauvesz's younger brother.Ghauvesz was trained by Belgos while Durtru went to the arcane academy. As Ghauvesz was traveling to the bazaar in the center of town to buy fresh slaves for his mother, a horrendus half fiend creature(the third lesser half demon) confronted him, and told Ghauvesz of his terrible fate. Datarii was to strike Tarfein in 3 weeks. :invasion: Ghauvesz could live without his mother, and whole family easily. Drow life suited him fine but the demon blood in him gave him superior talent and he was often bored. Plus the constant annoyance of the "thin blooded" drow annoyed him. What Ghauvesz wanted was a life that bards would sing of for years and though living in an evil world with black blood coursing through his veins he himself was not entirely evil.He did what he needed to survive. Three weeks later as Tarfein burned to the ground Ghauvesz fled to the caverns of the wild, soon finding himself running from Datarii's servants to the surface world. After weeks, or maybe even months of pain,Ghauvesz adapted to the surface. Know seeking welth as a mercenary, and still doing what he must to survive,Ghauvesz is now fleeing from Datarii's long reach, for the fiend stillhas one more Tarfein to go. How do you like his background? I still have to smooth out his personality and mindset. But I dont know what class/classes to give him as he progresses. He'll probably start as fighter but I want to take some form of class or prestige class to encompass his demon blood. For those of you who have done temple of elemental evil help me please on these last few issues. By the way, this is my first post on wizard's boards! |
