You see his mother left his father because she found life in the forest dull and returned to her former life as an assassin for the Guild. She eventually remarried a human and had a daughter. (the mother was also human by the way). When he was about 15 and the girl was about 5 both parents were arrested in an attempt on the life of a Lord of the city. Because it was a job that the guild had not authorized they recieved no help and were left to rot. So the guy finds himself 15 with the responsibility for his 5 year old sister. He has never seen his parents do anything but go to the guildhouse and come back a few days later with money. Thats the only option he sees. So he joins the Guild and discovers he's really good at thievery and particularly skilled at the art of disguise. He eventually ends up killing a man and realizes that he must make sure his little sister never has to live this life. He uses the money to get her educated in the best schools and thereby mix with the children of the best people. He continues to work for the Guild but begins to hate what he has to do for his sister. He begins to hate the guild, because secretly he does like Robbing people and the rush of ruining peoples' lives. The Guild sees great potential in him and begins to use him as a smuggler. He has several different identities that he uses and his main one (which is not him) is flasshy and firty, and very Han Soloey. He uses that to keep people at arms length. His secret goal is to get his sister established in a life away from all this in another city and then wage his own private war on the guild who turned him into a monster. This is not my suggestion of what you should do but mereely one man's version of what you could do with it. That's the great thing about this game you can have 5 people all playing 1/2 elf rogue who are smooth talkers, but if done properly none of them will be carbon copies of each other. |

| vance_x07-17-04, 09:46 PM | Verywell... Vances mother died in labor, leaving him in his fathers and two older half-brothers care. His father, a human armorsmith, was a cruel man, atleast to Vance, to Vances older half-brothers, both full human, he was the kindest and most careing. Vance was constantly beaten up and made fun of my his older brothers, and his father always turned a bind eye to his cries of help. His only comfort durring his childhood came in the form of a middle aged man named Zylyn. Zylyn was a human rogue of great knowdledge, and this he passed on to the young Half-elf. The days went by fast for young Vance and he blossemed amazingly quick and well under Zylyns watchful eye. Vance found he got a rush from perticularly hard jobs. The two traveled alittle and pulled of some very profittable jobs, Vances father not caring where he was. On returning from a perticularly long journey Vance found his father bed rodden by a crippling sickness and his two older brothers now incontrol of the forge. The night he returned was the night he truely left. He saw no future in this village and so, stealing his mentors leather armor and 'some' gold pieces, he struck a path down the road. Vance is now a thrill seeking, wise cracker, that has little pitty for anyone who claims to have had a hard childhood, and a soft spot for the children he meets that actually have. He focuses in sneaking, hiding, disguise, bluff, and diplomancy. He is also the 'face' of his adventuring party. if you wanna know anything else, just ask. |
