Hey all, figured I'd post on here and see where you guys would go with this as I'm stumped. Weird that I can create interesting NPCs when I DM but can't pull it together for my own PC.
I have a 13th level paladin I've converted to 3.5. I had played him in one of those Against the Giants modules with some dude who still ran 1E.
I mostly DM but I wanted to keep this guy as I've had him for about 10 years and he makes a good NPC for my PCs in Waterdeep.
So far, I've made him a 4th level fighter/7th level paladin. I want to give him a PrC but everything I've tried does not seem to fit.
His background? I played him first in a module that took us to Dragonspear Castle, he and his party nearly died fighting a demon. I think I had him as an unearthed arcana Cavalier back then and thought I'd rock the demon with a lance charge. As I rolled massive damage, the DM asked me, "Is that a magic lance", my face dropping as I said "No" realizing that demons could only be affected by magical weapons. My paladin flew off his horse, his lance shattering like a match stick against the beast. Fast forward, I played him against some frost giants and he lost an arm. Through a Limited Wish, he wound up getting an enchanted limb (used the stats for that Arm of whatever from Defenders of the Faith) which made him a bit more interesting. Right now, I have him as having been a fighter out in the Silvermarches, then finding the worship of Torm. Any PrC ideas?

I don't know if this will help, but this is what I did with the Paladin idea. He is a human with contracted Lychanthropy-WereBear. He is only 1st level so he has a lot of work to be done, but I think he will turn out pretty good. The Bear is also a LG creature so he doesn't lose his alignment. Just a thought.

If your going to prestige class...that would help out significantly.

I always start my character development by what I want to do with the character.

BTW if your doing a Fighter/Paladin combo...I really suggest looking at the Anointed Knight in the BOED.

Also what type of combat do you focust on.

Does your character currently have personality quarks that we could help fit into the story?
