| OgreMonk02-24-06, 01:32 PM | I know it may seem counterproductive to make a warforged cleric of Vol, with the Wis and Cha penalties, and the healing issues, and a creature who can never become undead but who worships them anyway. Obviously, I am not going powergamer for this character. But I am having a heckuva time coming up with a story here. |
| Grizzled Gryphon02-25-06, 10:36 PM | The only info I have about Vol is what you have posted here, but I have an idea for ya. Vol is obviously a deity of the undead, in some way or another. Perhaps this warforged felt that he has more in common with the undead than with the living? After all, he doesn't have a lot of the need of the living, like eating, sleeping, breathing. As he feels that he is has more in common with the undead, he has decided to worship them(or their deity). Just a thought. |
| Morka02-27-06, 11:14 AM | Perhaps was he a common warforged adventurer, travelling with some humans, elves, halfling, etc. One night, his group ran into a bunch of undeads, attacking any living foe, but ignoring him! If the warforged was formerly good, then this experience changed his way of seeing the world; he thought he had some affinities with undeads, and became interrested in Vol. Take a look at the box in my sig for many links on Warforged characters. |

| OgreMonk02-28-06, 06:48 PM | How is this? Darknight is a LN warforged cleric of Vol. He was "employed" for many years within the Vaults of the Dead in Karnnath. During this time, he gained a fascination with the undead and their creation. The many years of mindless labor gave him ample time to philosophize about many other questions, such as "Where do I come from?" and "Why am I here?". One day, Darknight began a conversation with a human slave who told him about The Blood of Vol and their worship of blood and undeath. The slave, named Furiano, had been a low level priest of Vol who was put into the vaults as punishment for some crime that the he would not divulge. The more Darknight learned, the more he began to think that this group could provide him with the answers to all of his questions. The two began planning an escape. They gained access to a sewer that ran from the vaults and made their way to freedom. The two travelled to Sharn and were supposed to meet up with the brother of Furiano. Upon arrival, Furiano's brother refused to help the budding warforged cleric since he had some very bad experiences with warforged during the Last War. In a fury, Darknight slew the brother with a single touch(Death Touch granted by Death Domain). Furiano attempted to help his sibling, but was killed by the enraged warforged. Now Darknight wanders Sharn, alone, in search of information about Vol or a way to contact those who worship Vol, hoping they can provide him with the answers he seeks. He has not made many friends but has gained steady employment through House Cannith as a courier. Darknight has also had a few run-ins with agents of The Lord of Blades. The Lord seems to have taken some sort of interest in Darknight, but so far, that interest is unknown to Darknight. The idea of warforged supremacy does not sit well with Darknight since warforged cannot attain the immortality of undeath. Personality quirks: -Cannot pass up the chance to research information on Vol or undead creation methods -Prefers the company of the undead over the living -Thinks aloud, usually when he should not be doing so |
