Help my Fighter Ranger [Archive] - Wizards Community

12-10-05, 02:49 PM I made a Level 12 character
First 2 levels were of fighter
and the rest are Ranger

MY only problem is gettign the full potential out of it

Right now for my animal compainion i have a dire weasal

the feats ive selected so far are:
the class feats for a ranger

i have 7 feat spots left and i have no idea what i can take.
I am a dex based archer.

Hmmmm... i see your problem..... :uh-huh:

We need more info mate, we cant just pluck a character background out of thin air.

It also sounds as though your looking for help with maxing out the character, try the CO board for that.

12-17-05, 12:21 AM I suggest that the first level be a Ranger level. You start with so many more skill points and skills as a ranger at 1st level. With the archery orientation: take dodge, mobility, shot on the run, precise shot, point blank shot.

If you have acces to Complete Warrior, I suggest the Sharpshooting feat and take a look at the ranged attack feats there. Also, take a look at the Order of the Bow Initiate prestige class.

If you only have access to the core then weapon focus and weapon specialization (longbow or comp. longbow) for the remaining two feats.

12-17-05, 01:40 PM Somehow I'm having great fun imagining a short-bow using halfling riding around on the back of a Dire weasal. I can imagine a few Gm's I know shooting coffee out of their nose when that concept gets mentioned ;)

For the feats I'd suggest point blank shot, precise shot, weapon focus, mounted combat{ prerequisite} mounted archery, trample. If you go this route feat number 8 should be ride-by attack, though in your case it should be ride-through attack - ie you shot the enemy let the dire wesal trample him and then keep on going.

I imagine a leather hat, slicker and hard soled riding boots on the hafling ranger as he dismounts from his dire weasal and lets the weasal eat the remains of their opponents ;)

minor note: if you are playing v3.5 then you can't have weapon specialization until fighter level 4.
