Hi there, i've need help creating a sorcerer, please help me if you can :D

here the concept: he is an aasimar who have a demon as his ancestor(the demon disguised himself or forced a female aasimar[the pc's grandma] to have a child with him, this child[pc's mother] however was hated by his own kind and she and his mother were forced to leave their place...then the grandmother died and her daughter had a baby with another aasimar who was unaware of her ancestor and soon after they had the child, he discovered the truth and decided to left the two...then the mother left the child on the street and committed suicide)

the child grew on the street learning to survive earning money in any ways, and thanks to his heritage he started to "use" magic when he was still very young(around 4 or 5)...at age 7 he met a wizard who had an interest in him and used him to get as many informations about magic and other things as he can(this wizard was rich and had a big library with all kind of books)

at age 10 he became good enough in the use of magic to be able to assassinate the wizard himself(he was hired to kill him by another wizard)...he continued living like this for other 9 years(which is the age at which the pc will start in the campaign) doing many works like assassin, mercenary, pronstitute, etc... and learned to rely on his bauty and charisma and his magic to accomplish his goals or even just to get what he wanted...

85 points for stats, start at level 10, alignment is chaotic neutral

now id' like your help to figure out which prc(s), skills and spells to pick(especially i'd like you to suggest me a good prc for this kind of character)

more infos: he has a particular fondness for enchantment and conjuration spells, and cold based spells
though he learned how to survive and earn a living in many ways, he strongly relied on his spells and his charisma and beauty...rather than stealing he would persuade a person to give him the thing he want, or trick him to get it

he must not lose any spellcasting level, and he must be a sorcerer

as someone who was always alone since he was born, and learned to live and survive by himself, he must be strong enough to be able to deal with almost every kind of encounter(appropriate for his level) even just by himself, that doesn't mean he must be broken, please don't post charachters who can kill a CR 25 dragon at level 10, but characters who can hold their own against almost every encounter of CR up to 12-13(not necessarily be able to defeat them all, but at least able to put up a tough fight...)

he should have a good variety of spells and be very versatile and useful in lots of different situations(not only combat)

and i guess that's all, sorry if it's too much to ask, but i really don't know were to look(too much books) >__<

ambientation is forgotten realms, this is a list of books i possess:
PHB, DMG, MM, PHB II, DMG II, MM II, MM III, MM IV, MM V, CW, CD, CArc, CAdv, CM, XPH, CP, Drac, UA(no variant rules but the rest is allowed), HoH, RoS, FF, BoVD, BoED, PLHB, FrostBurn, RoD, LM, SP, RotW, MoI, WoL, ToM, CS, HoB, LoM, DrM, Stormwrack, RotD, Sandstorm, SC

The backstory seems... interesting. I like the idea of an evil Aasimar, and someday I'll probably play one, but I'd probably have mine driven over the deep end by the high expectations of society rather than trying to go the "bad seed" route.

Anyway, if you play a Lesser Aasimar (unfortunately, I've forgotten what book they're from), you won't have a level adjustment, and you'll have the Humanoid creature type. As a Humanoid, you could enter the Fiend-Blooded prestiege class (Heroes of Horror), which would let you emphasize the fiendish side of your heritage while adding a few extra spells to your spell list. It loses a caster level, but not until level 10. You could always leave the class before then. You'll need two feats (Eschew Materials, and Blood Calls to Blood), and you'll need either one of the Apprenteice feats from DMG2 (Apprentice Spellcaster would fit with your story) or the Planar Sorcerer Substitution Level from Planar Handbook in order to meet the Knowledge: The Planes prerequisite. If you can't use the Lesser Aasimar, you could use the Human Heritage feat (Races of Destiny) to qualify as a Humanoid. In that case, you'll need a Flaw (UA) if you also want the Apprentice feat instead of the Planar Sorcerer substitution level.

Another option would be to take the Arcane Preparation and Cooperative Spell feats and go into Mage of the Arcane Order (another choice that would make sense for a Sorcerer who used to be a Wizard's apprentice, and one that would work for a normal Aasimar with the Outsider type). This will allow you to cast any Sorcerer/Wizard spell, if you have a few minutes of time to prepare.

This post (http://forums.gleemax.com/showpost.php?p=14049891&postcount=15) has some links to good suggestions for putting together a Sorcerer spell list, and this thread (http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=884597) has some suggestions for picking spells for the Fiendish Sorcery class feature. After reading that, I'd suggest putting together a list of the classes, spells, and feats you think you want and posting that on the Character Optimization (http://forums.gleemax.com/forumdisplay.php?f=339) board, where you're more likely to get help with a character build.

first, thanks for your suggestions

the level adjustment isn't a problem at all, but i really like that fiendish sorcerer, so i might go with a lesser aasimar(if i find it, and it still has the +2 cha bonus...otherwise i think i'll go with something different with the +2 cha and that would still fit with the character's BG...)

i'm planning on taking the following flaws:
vulnerable
murky-eyed

i guess i'll go with the aasimar with the human heritage feat and take a substitution level

now the only problem is how to get diplomacy as a class skill...

also, the human heritage feat give +4 skill points...only at first level, or at each level? °_°

Ah, I found it! Player's Guide to Faerun, p. 191 (last page-- at least, in the English version). Lesser Planetouched (that includes Aasimar, Tieflings, and Genasi) are identical to normal Planetouched, except with no LA and the Humanoid type rather than the Outsider type.

And I'm pretty sure the Human Heritage feat only gives you 4 skill points when you take it, not at later levels. Maybe it should give you one extra skill point every time you gain a level, but it never says that it does. So, it doesn't.

What do you want/need Diplomacy for?

found it, thanks. Man, that's huge, i've saved a feat :D

I want diplomacy because this charachter is exceptionally good at both tricking and fascinating people with his words and appearance...

the base concept is taken from berserk's griffith, you know :D

so now i need: diplomacy as a class skill and more skill points

these 4 skills are must:
concentration
knowledge(arcana)
knowledge(planes)
spellcraft

with a 16 int i have 5 skill points each level, and i'd like to bump all my important skills to the maximum

skills i'd very much like to have(to fit with the BG):
bluff
diplomacy
gather information(a bit of this)
knowledge(a bit of all if possible, though i don't need to invest much in these too)
perform(a bit too)
profession

the education feat is good, but i should change race to take it...i guess i'll ask the GM to HR it so that i could take it...afterall my character is practically an half-human who grew and lived essentially in human cities...

now i need a way to get to at least 7-8 skill points/level...mmm i wonder if that's even possible? :/

no, don't tell me to play a bard :D , this charachter has to be a sorcerer, or at best, a wizard(with the wizard i'll have to change the race and some major things in the BG...it would be a pain :D)

Note about lesser aasimar....remember than you dont lose the outsider type, you just gain the humanoid type. Effectively spells and effects that target either will affect you. You will now be susceptible to "Charm person" as you are humanoid and "Banishment" as you are an outsider (just to name two spells). It is still very worth it, but you should know what you are signing up for when you take it. Nothing like arguing with the DM when you find yourself on the plane of celestia with a very angry planetar wanting to talk to you about your childhood master's sudden death after being hit with a random banishment spell.

As far as those skills you want, check with the DM and see if he will let you take Able leaner from p.150 of races of destiny. It has a racial requirement of human or changling, but given your character background you may be able to sway him. May want to offer trading one of your aasimar abilities (daylight for instance) for the ability to take the feat. Could also have interesting RPing consequences as the local children may ask to see the wonderful light your goodly race can create. You, being evil and unale to conjure such light, would then have to attempt to bluff the children as you cast the spell from your sorc spell pool or from a scroll/item.....or at the very least come up with an interesting excuse.

As far as getting the skills you want.....you did say 85 point buying system didn't you? why only a 16 int then? Drop your strength a bit and pump your int to 18. The Griffith I remember was a frail man, more dextrous than strong.

Actually, Banishment sends you to your native plane and is completely ineffective if you're already there. Planetouched are Outsider (native) (and Lesser Planetouched are Humanoid (planetouched)), meaning the Prime Material is already their home plane, so they can't be banished from it, only to it. And if someone's travelling to another plane, it doesn't matter whether he's a Humanoid or an Outsider, only that he has the (extraplanar) subtype.

mmm...haven't found anything that would gave me diplomacy as a class skill without impossible requirements, nor anything that would gave me more skill points without the loss of a caster level...and as a sorcerer, i really can't lose a caster level...

i guess i'll have to talk with the GM for this(and for education too, perhaps) and take open minded or simply go with the aasimar with the human heritage feat for extra skill points...

I hate to disagree with you Crimson, but in this instance I'm afraid you are mistaken. I'm no good at the nifty quote thing, but...

FRCS p. 18 about planetouched:

"Second, spells and effects that target extraplanar creatures may affect planetouched creatures. For example, the mace of smiting and the sword of the planes are more effective against outsiders, and are correspondingly more dangerous to a planetouched character. A spell that drives outsiders back to their home planes does not affect planetouched characters, but banishment - a spell that removes an outsider from the caster's plane without specifying a return to the outsider's home plane - would work just fine."
Further, in the description of the lesser version in PGtF p.191:

"All lesser planetouched have the following racial trait in common, in addition to all the racial traits detailed elsewhere in this book.

Planetouched: Planetouched are humanoids (not outsiders) with the planetouched subtype. They are suseptible to spells and effects that specifically targer both humanoids or outsiders. Charm person works against them, and so does banishment. This trait replaces the outsider entry in each planetouched description."

So while you may not end up in Celestia...it is one of the places you could end up. And if you did...angry planetar

Ah. I wasn't aware of that, because I've never had to deal with Planetouched in the Realms. I didn't realize they were treated as being extraplanar in Faerun even if they were native to the Prime Material.

In that case, I'd advise learning Shadow Walk, the lowest-level Sorcerer spell (that I know of) that permits interplanar travel.

just to inform that after talking with the gm he allowed the education feat and both diplomacy and gather information as class skills replacing craft...i guess my BG was sooo reeeaaally well made that it made him accept my requests so easily :DDD

so, for the skills part i'm done. Now for the feats, i have already taken eschew materials, blood calls to blood, education and open minded...so 2 more to take...one that would probably be extend spell...as for the other i haven't decided yet...any suggestions about a feat absolutely to take?

Once again, this really isn't the place to get help on race, feat, skill, spell, or prestiege class selection. This board is mostly for sorting out your character's background and personality, which you seem to have pretty well settled.

You should probably create a thread on the Character Optimization (http://forums.gleemax.com/forumdisplay.php%3Ff%3D339) board (or go back to the thread you already had-- I think I saw one) and ask there for help on feats.

The only one I know to recommend is Empower Spell, but that's only a guess since I don't know what spells you have. (I assume you're taking a few direct-damage spells.)

I'm not sure if it is available, but if there is something out there that lets you gain sneak attack or sudden strike ability, Spellwarp Sniper class from Complete Scoundrel sounds like it could be right up your alley. 5 level prestige class with an assassin-y feel to it, using Ray spells. Using this with feats such as Split Ray and Enlarge Spell could make it even better.

So if you can find something as mentioned before, Sudden Strike or Sneak attack without somehow losing one Spellcaster level, this could be quite helpful.

As I understand, the character has both Celestial and Fiendish blood.
