12-13-03, 09:07 AM okay so its a sun elf wizard of lawful evil aglinment

stats: str 8 dex 14 con 12 wis 8 int 20 cha 10
i was thinking he grew up somewhere in the western heartlands and he likes poetry and fine clothes etc. now i would like to get something credible why/how he began studying magic and so on. all ideas welcome

12-13-03, 01:55 PM I think the question is more why he got LE alignment? Magic is very common for elves, after all it is there favored class. But the most common alignment for elves is CG.

I think to have a lawful alignment, one need to be raised in an organized society. You do not become lawful when you grew up in a shack in the heart of a wood, and your nearest neighbor is miles away.

So he should be born in a human city. But for an elf, who gain adulthood at 100 years old when your child friends are since long dead, it is quite frustrating, no? Perhaps his parents were merchant (spellcaster for hire) in this human city. When he saw that humans were aging faster than him, he could start to feel jealous, or arrogant, or a mix of both. He despises humans 'cause he knows HE will be there in 500 years, while humans he mets shall be deads since long.

12-13-03, 03:19 PM Perhaps the magic itself is what led him to his alignment - He's become a rigid-thinking, highly disciplined mage concerned only with his own power and advancement within his magical studies. Little else matters to him.
