First off I'm not a drizzit du urden or whatever his name is fanboy cause I've never read any of salvatores books. But I do know a little about drizzit from playing d&d and working out at renaissance festivals. My character just started off as a woodelf ranger that prestiged into dervish and duel weilds scimitars and slowly got screwed up from there by evil dms that like good stories.

My character is a woodelf TWF ranger favored class ranger, because I like rangers and the +2str +2dex and don't mind the -2con -2 int. My rangers favored enemies are orcs and dragons because of orc raids and dragon attacks. He duel weilds scimitars cause he prestiged into dervish. This is because he's from a long line of either dervishes or rangers, but thats besides the point. On another note scimitars have the best crit range and do some considerable damage. Also the dm and I have seen stats somewhere for an elven scimitar. Basically its like the elven light blade is to dagger, as a elven thinblade is to a rapier, with the 18-20 crit range and die damage gone up one so. elven scimitar 1 handed melee 1d8 18-20/x2 2lb slashing martial for elves, exotic for anyone else.

Like I was saying basically my woodelf started as a ranger and took twf and itwf by lv 5. Some where between buying a cheap belt of giants strength off a gnomish shopkeeper and finding out later that its a belt of femininity, I now have a female woodelf ranger who is permanently female. This is because wishes are too hard to come by and more dangerous than just a simple genderbender. My character knowing that this is pretty messed up leaves town incognito thanks to hat of disguise, and goes home to his or should I now say her village to get advice on being a woman from her mother, sisters, previous girlfriends etc.

Ok about 10 years pass my character learns the ways of the dervish from her mother, since its what the women of the family ussually take while the male take the ranger path. She also learns what it is to be a women as well, while training over the past 10 years my character finds out that she is part drow an 1/8 from her mother cause she's a 1/4.

Since there are really no rules for races and racial traits past 1/2 elves we had to make $#!+ up.The way my dm puts it is after the 2nd generation the most dominate elf traits come out. So a full drow has kids with a wood elf and makes half wood elf/halfdrow children no drow or elf traits other than the 60 ft darkvision and the other 1/2 elf traits. They grow up get married to a wood elf have kids, you now have 3/4 wood elf 1/4 drow with wood elf traits +2 str, +2 dex -2 con -2 int, no drow traits just the lineage, same thing happens with those kids they grow up as wood elves get married to wood elfs and now have 7/8 wood elf and 1/8 drow still no drow traits with the wood elf traits of +2 str +2 dex -2 con -2 int which is where my character is at.

Ok finding out she's part drow she goes to find her heritage which is of good drow that worship Eilistraee think the forgotten realm goddess of the good drow. heres the wizards article on it http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ex/20020503a

Ok she stays there about 5 years and learns of her family history and helps defend the village from the underdark drow which constatly try to kill off the surface drow cause they view them as blood traitors. Since she's done good deeds in the name of good drow Eilistraee basically grants her the drow abilities. So the question is should I be using the 2 lv transition from 1/2 drow to drow like here http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/sp/20040319a
or should I be using the 2 racial lv adjustments from here http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/sp/20040213a
Sorry for being so long just to ask those questions, also does it sound feasible to change a 7/8 wood elf/ 1/8 drow to a full drow. Note to anyone beware of gnomes offering gifts, or magic items at low prices.

I know I know I'm not supposed to bump my own topic but I want an honest answer from at least someone. After reading my quasi novel spiel about my screwed up campaign and stuff, I'd like to know if it sounds feasible to transition a wood elf with drow heritage into a full drow via the savage progressions/divine intervention with a lesser diety? The dm said that I would either look like a full drow or like a half drow/half wood elf depending on what my character wants. Also does this sound reasonable or is my character full drow now like the dark skin violet eyes silver hair you get the idea.

Cool background and in-game experience. Where did you find the write-up for the elven scimitar?

Personally, since it is a diety, Eilistraee, that is granting this wonderful gift to your character, she should do it as she sees fit. She's a GOD! If she wants you to have the abilities of a full drow - then you get the full abilities of a full drow. If she wants you to look like a full drow - than you look like a full drow. I don't see where level adjustments come into play here (in regards to the articles you sited).

Now your DM may wish to give you a new ECL, which is all fine and dandy. However, since it was the DM that gave you the powers of a full drow, it would be counter-productive to tack on an ECL that would outstrip the bonuses you now have. There is nothing that a full drow has in natural abilities that you couldn't already have in magic items. You must be high enough level to be in the Dervish PrC, so you've had the chance to purchase items that would give you Darkvision and/or spell resistance. So, since you did this "good deed" in helping the followers of Eilistraee than you should get all the powers and abilities of a full drow.

Now the only question is do you want to look like a drow or not?

I remember seeing it on some site I think it was a dragonlance fan site. I don't think it was an official site, it might have just been someone like me and my dm that just came up with it basing it off of the elven thinblade, and elven light blade.

My character leila windslasher original name Legault windslasher (she was renamed leila by her bard sister melody) is a woodelf ranger6/fighter2/dervish2 about 5' 5" 135lb dark tan skin, auburn hair emerald eyes. The way my dm said was it was part of a ritual with the clerics of eilistraee they sang and danced and the goddess or her avatar you never can be sure appeared before them. She brushed her hands through leila's hair and waved her hand over her eyes and then she spoke briefly to leila and disappears. Now she has violet eyes 2 silvery white streaks through her long auburn hair and has a complexion similar to a half drow half wood elf and has the abilities of the drow.

Oh as for the elven scimitars they appear to just be +1 keen made of mithral, but when I attack dragonkind each one glows a different hue of fire like an icy flame and a normal flame and does the according damage. Oh and the scimitars or really old and named Iyce and Fyre. My dm ties the creation of the scimitars in with the creation of the orbs of dragonkind and the dragon wars which is like long battles against dragons about 5,000 years ago.

Also in the party is one of leila's cousins priscilla a rogue/shadowdancer she figures if her cousins getting into trouble/fun why not tag along, an Eilistraee convert drow fighter ivellios he didn't like the teachings of lolth and the whole evil thing so he escaped in one of the surface raids against the good surface drow and found sanctuary among them. a fighter/Dwarven defender borador he's the son of one of leila's mothers old party members thordor they met him in a bar and found out after a couple hours that their parents traveled together and figured hey why not haven't had in adventure in a while. We're hoping to turn it into a book series eventually but until then its just gonna be a really long interesting campaign.

From what it sounds like, the DM's just tossing in some extra cookies for good RP. I couldn't really see how unbalancing the Drow abilities or the Elven scimitars could be. Really, they'd about equal out to what other PC's should be capable of at that time, and nothing a few well planned for wondrous items wouldn't abate the balance of. The belt of Genderbender's a little iffy by my standards, but if noone in the party's got a problem with it, I say go for it. It sounds pretty solid to me, and I'm a little bit of an elitist when it comes to the RP stuff. Not very Drizz'ty at all. (I read two books only to see what the hype was about.)

The spell res, and 120ft darkvision is pretty cool especially when you have a dm that likes to keep dragging you back near the underdark to help out your good drow relatives. Oh I forgot one other person in the party is an wood elf/half celestial, so basically everyone in the party has darkvision, leila cause of the goddess blessing drow transition thing, priscilla cause she's a shadow dancer, thordor cause he's a dwarf, ivellios cause hes a drow, and ehlora cause she's a 1/2 celestial. The scimitars aren't unbalancing but when they're keen and do a d8 they have a crit range of 15-20 x2, also when we made our pcs I rolled 2 18's so i put those into dex and str, so at 1st lv I had a 20str and a 20dex cause of the woodelf bonuses. This is probably the best character ive ever made and its been really fun to play. thanx for the feedback

Just had to say one thing....

The Violet eyes on the drow are very rare but not unheard of. Drizzt had them. But again they are rare but definatly cool to have.

I'm not sure what the difference is, it costs you two levels either way.

However, transition classes are supposed to be for going from a race that already has an ECL to a race that has a higher ECL. They shouldn't be necessary if your original race has 0 ECL. So I'd say, just use the 2 racial levels.

Perhaps an easier way around it (and one that makes more sense to me) Would be to allow your elf to take levels in the Drow paragon class from UA. instead of getting an extra use of drow special abilities per day, just give the character 1 use per day. And instead of +30 darkvision, just give them 30 darkvision... i dunno, just seems a little easier.
