Hey all :D

Now i have something of a problem with D&D, i'm fine running the game but when it comes to characters i'm totally stumped!

What i'd like to do is show you part of the e-mail sent to my DM about the concept ind i'd like some pointers on how to create the character...

"Alithyra Darkeyes
Once a successor to the local ruling elite, she is now a shadowy thief and thrill seeker. She was exiled for her indiscretions with the serving staff and visiting dignitaries. Alith has always been the free-wheeling type, enjoying the world for all it is.
She works under the guise of Lady Darkeyes, or the Weaver thief for her penchant of wearing fine silks and lace with her leather armour.
During her adventures following her exile she has been blessed by the voice of Olidammara, the Laughing Rogue and she takes his fortunate touch with her.
Ok Gaz if its ok with you i'd like to make Alithyra a Rog2/Cle2 (4). The planned Domains for the Cleric class are Luck and Trickery.
She is a lithe young woman, attractive with midnight black hair and pale skin. She wears her lace and leather armour most of the time and favours a cloak with deep hood, so only her lips and jaw can be seen.
She has an assortment of Masquerade masks she uses when 'doing business' as most of the time she is sort of recognisable as the Lords niece, and she would prefer to avoid further embarrassing her Uncles name."

Now i'd like to play a trickster type of character where stealth and subterfuge always come before combat.

Stats so far are:
Str 10
Dex 15
Con 8
Int 13
Wis 14
Cha 12

She is to be a 4th level character preferably rog2/Cle2

Thanks all :D

Good choice of cleric domains. For her skills, I'd pick options like Diplomacy (class skill for both rogues and clerics), Move Silently, Bluff, Sleight of Hand, and perhaps an interesting sort of Perform. Choose dexterity or skill -focused feats. A light weapon that she could use weapon finesse with would be ideal. A whip might suit her as both a secondary weapon and a mark of her personality.

I'm assuming Alith is CN? For playing her, I'd say her only strong devotion is to her church and that secular laws don't mean much to her. She is not stupid nor random, but often seeks creative and unconventional ways to approach problems.

If you'll allow a little 'meta-gaming', I would consider rearranging scores this way:

STR 8
DEX 15
CON 10
INT 14
WIS 13
CHA 12

You don't need much strength if always armored in leather and you use weapon finesse to score hits with your high dexterity; however, if you are lightly armored, you do need hp!

A 14 in INT gives you another skill point each level to bolster your trickery skills; a WIS of 13 still allows you to cast 3rd level spells, and the highest (minimum) WIS you'd need by 20th level is 15 (to cast 5th level spells), so you can buy points of Wisdom at levels 8 and 16, and boost dexterity at levels 4, 12, and 20.

I'd emphasize diplomacy, bluff, sense motive, search, disable traps, open locks, hide, move silently, disguise (for your character concept) and (maybe)tumbling. Assuming she is human, I'd use the Able Learner feat (from Races of Destiny) to get the most out of your skill points when she's leveling as a Cleric. If you are thinking about using any 'aggressive' spells, you'll want Spell Penetration to compensate for being multi-classed; if your spells will mainly be for defense or buffing, then take Dodge, Mobility, and maybe Spring Attack. Weapon Finesse is a must.

Hope this helps.

Excellent advise thanks :D

Queenfange: the whip idea is good but unatainable atm with all the feats needed. As for personality and approach to life your advice was spot on :D

qxe9898: thanks for your metagamming advise... Points taken and acted on :) Most of my group are the meta gaming sort so i don't feel bad for doing it myself.

Again thanks
