| Frylord01-02-07, 05:19 PM | No, I'm NOT trying to Rp Pun-pun. I simply need help with a kobold character I am making. I've come up with a name, Terminus Bonejeer and some background. Background: Terminus Bonejeer started out life as any another kobold, except for the fact that he could point out the flaws in almost any plan the chief and his council could think up. At the kobold adult age of 6, Terminus was sold to an influential nobleman who wanted only kobold servants by a few clan members he thought his friends. As with all the other kobolds the nobleman was sold, Term(Terminus's nickname, given to him by the nobleman) was educated in speaking/writing Common, being sophisticated, polite, and in general serving their master. Since he was even more polite and eager to please then the rest, Term was made the butler of the noble. As the noble hated scaled creatures and Term was the kobold he saw the most, (on account of a magic-enchanced rattlesnake killing his wife or somesuch) he hit, ripped the scales off of, burnt, cut with a knife, and generally hurt Term, driving Term to madness, although Term stayed sane on the outside due to his education of being polite and such. The only sign of outward madness was Term making his puppets. Sometimes they came alive, but of course the noble found out, and kicked Term whenever he saw him with the hand-made, disturbingly lifelike puppets. He served faithfully (or so the noble thought) for 20 years. On his off time, Term made puppets, for they were the only thing he had power over. On his 26th birthday, Terminus concocted a deadly poison and asassinated his master with it by merely pouring it in the noble's wine. He then traveled back to his clan village with several bottles of wine and almost as much bottles of poison. Term threw a party in honor of him coming back, and subtlely poisoned the kobolds who gave him to the nobleman. All of them died in horrible ways, their eyes popping out of their skulls, their jaws sagging, and their precious scales flaking. When asked about how they died, Term simply said, "They got in my way." and left his clan village, seeking to gain as knowledge as possible after he saw a plaque in the noble's house. The plaque read, "Knowledge is power." Term seeks power, for after having only the uniform the noble gave him and his brillant mind, he wants to see if he can manipulate the world just as he did his puppets. Personality: In a few words; cruel, emotionless, sophisticated, and with a sadistic sense of humor. Motivation: Wants to be the power behind the throne just for kicks. Appearence: Term has sleek, silver scales, bright purple eyes that shine menancingly when ever he is angry or happy, he wears a tattered brown cloak, under that a yellow, (once white) old suit with green edges. Is this good? Criticism welcome, and new ideas also welcome. I still can't decide on Term's class... EDIT: |
| Khatoblepas01-02-07, 05:59 PM | He's a total nutjob. He must have been seperated and totally disjoined from kobold society, since this is not how kobolds normally would act. Okay. So, he was under the service of the noble for 20 years (That's like, 1/5th of someone's life), making puppets. Power... he isn't by any chance Dragonwrought, is he? White dragon blood would make him headstrong and megalomaniacal. His silvery scales could hide the whitish, bluish tinge of his ancestry. Though, white dragons aren't known for their intelligence. Hmm. But why would he kill his entire clan? This bit I don't get. They didn't seem to do anything to impede him, and they venerated him, too. Couldn't he have easily beguiled them into obeying him unquestionably? Termy should be a Rogue/Sorcerer type, or a Bard. His koboldness makes him almost automatically have levels in sorcerer (since they're awesome like that), and you can focus on enchantment and illusion, while still being the general sneaky guy with the stabby stuff. This guy seems to be psychotic without much reason at the moment, though. Why is he like this? How was he treated by the noble? How was he treated by the rest of his clan? |
| Frylord01-02-07, 06:20 PM | Actually, if you check it closer, you'll notice I said (quote Term threw a party in honor of him coming back, and subtlely poisoned the kobolds who gave him to the nobleman. endquote) He didn't kill his entire clan, only the ones who sold him to the nobleman. Also, Kobolds can live to 140 years old. Your last comment... I'm working on that. Hold on, I'll edit my first post. EDIT: Cripes, I keep forgetting that Silver isn't a normal kobold color. |
| Frylord01-04-07, 09:28 PM | Sorry for double-posting, but 124 views and only one person repliying? I need more help then just one person! (no offense to you, Khatoblepas) |
| stargate52501-04-07, 10:58 PM | Agreed with the other poster, this Kobold is a frikkin' nutjob. Why would the party want a loose cannon like this around? Heck, I'd be afraid to breathe too heavily around this guy. |
| Frylord01-04-07, 11:09 PM | Eh, he's polite, so unless he has a good reason or he really, really, want's to kill someone, he will try not to kill without reason. Plus he loves to manipulate, so the hook for adventuring with Term would be that he wants to see if he can get people to belive he's a hero and then see if he could get whoever he wants to do whatever he wants. EDIT: Wow, that animated servant spell of yours would go well with Term, stargate. |
| doink121201-05-07, 12:49 AM | I just sent my band of adventurers against a group of kobold warlocks. Very powerful. The +2 dex helps the eldiritch blast ability, and small size gives him another +1 bonus. Warlocks abilities stem not from practice or meditation but through sheer force of will. It would make great sense with how long this character has gone on without any powers. The downloadable character sheet for the warlock from the D&D site is excellent though it does not include the new invocations from the complete mage book. Given the type of character I would say that the kobold would definately take the charm invocation at at 6th lvl (giving you access to the mindbender prestige class) Seems like someone who wears many masks... And warlocks can learn baleful polymorph. I love warlocks... and kobold warlocks work well. Actually the kobolds in my campaign trapped krenshars and used the call of the beast invocation to domesticate them... so there were kobold warriders Kobold warlocks riding krenshars.... humorous. Good luck I would like to know what happens. |
| Frylord01-05-07, 09:22 AM | Thanks, but before you posted, I decided on what I would do. Still, a kobold warlock sounds awesome, although I don't have the book for him. |
| Daxen01-12-07, 04:07 PM | This guy is a Beguiler headed for Mindbender through and through. Puppet fetish not withstanding. He is or wants to be, the master manipulator. You lose some of the cool sorcerer specific stuff kobolds get, but as a DM I would allow a feat that allows beguiler levels to count as sorcerer levels towards feat qualification and the like. Sort of like the new feats in Complete Scoundrel for Fighter/Swash. I must concur with the other posters though...this guy is a complete wack-job and I wouldn't want to adventure with him. The story is interesting and kinda nifty, but I would dial this guy back a bit to make him more playable. |
