| Lupo Ladron01-09-05, 11:22 AM | The campaign that I am playing in is set in the Forgotten Realms. I have been playing for over a year. We started out at 2nd level. My character's (Lupo Ladron's) backstory is this: he started his life as part of a thieves' guild in Shamph. He got himself into some trouble, and was ex-communicated from the town. He was found starving in the woods by some druids and they took him him. Feeling grateful, he took to the druids the same as the guild. He gained a level in druid, and set out to adventure and glorify the druid circle in which he was now a member. He settled in Lyrabar and has taken up with a group of adventures, where one of the tasks is to protect the Gray Forest. Apparently a hobgoblin/ lich, a hobgoblich, is assembling an undead and hobgobiliin army. The drow have taken over an old elven city in the gray forest, and the hobgoblich is using his vampire captain to create drow vampire-spawn and other undead beasties. This is apparently all being done in the name of Velsharoon. We have not faced the drow as of yet. We are all 8th-9th level and it ought to be fun. We are currently off on a very long side trek where we had to take a portal to the elemental plane of air where the Velsharoonites have a base. The portal out took us to Waterdeep, which is where we are currently. Anyway, My character has 1 level of rogue and 8 levels of druid. I have taken Survivor, Spellcasting Prodigy, Scribe Scroll, Natural Spell, and Initiate of Nature as feats. My character worships Meilikki. He is getting away from finding items to give back to the druids and more about worshipping Meilikki, hence why I took the Initiate of Nature feat. I want to maybe get away from Druid, but still want to take the spellcasting progression. I was thinking Divine Disciple but the cross-class ranks in knowledge religion are hard to achieve. What other divine prestige classes can anyone offer to make my character closer to his deity? Thanks. |

Heirophant (DMG) is a good choice as well. If you're an elf or half-elf, Master of the Yuirwood (Unapproachable East) is great and has relatively easy requirements as well (Alertness and Track, ranks in Knowledge: Nature and Survival). Hope this helps... |

| LiXinjian01-13-05, 10:04 PM | Looking at the Book of Exalted Deeds, I can propose: Lion of Talisid. Requires NG alignment, BAB+4, 9 ranks of Knowledge and Survival, + Favored of the Companions, a feat. It grants wild shape into felines, scent, immunity to fear, +4 to saves vs mind-affecting spells, some other goodies. Very nice. Would post more, but I need to go to work. Hope this helps. |
| Token01-14-05, 02:25 AM | Here's some advice: Multiclass spellcasters in D20 suck hard. Don't play one, especially in a faerun setting where everything's really powerful. The rogue doesn't start getting good until around level 8, then you can't get improved evasion until level 10 rogue. Any level that doesn't add to spellcasting hurts a spellcaster. There's no way around it in d20. Breaking through spell resistance, access to high level spells, and spells per day, are all based on levels with a caster level increase. As for a way to get enough ranks in knowledge religion as a cross-class skill, there's a few feats that can give you it as a class skill: Cosmopolitian (from the Forgotten Realms CS) let's you take any skill as a class skill. However, talk to your DM; Explain that you want to take X class that's aimed at cleric as a druid. Explain that you made the mistake of being a multiclass spellcaster/non-spellcaster in order to follow your "wierd" backstory, and you either want to (a) waive the requirement, (b) lower the requirement, or (c) allow knowledge: nature to substitute, as that's within your character's sphere of knowledge. As for your story idea, don't take this the wrong way but, it's kinda lame. "...set out to adventure and glorify the druid circle..." Glorify a society so secretive they have their own secret language and are forbidden from teaching it to any non-druid? Slaughtering monsters and acumulating treasure to glorify a bunch of secretive nature mages? Oh-yes, that's brilliant. |
| LiXinjian01-14-05, 09:08 AM | Forget Cosmopolitan, Token: it's been nerfed with Player's Guide to Faerūn. It now grants some insipid bonuses to charisma-based skills, like Gather Info and somesuch. Back to the Lion of Talisid: it grants full divine spellcasting progression, cleric BAB, immunity to fear, +4 to will saves vs. mind-affecting spells and effects, scent, wild shape into tiny, small, medium or large animals (spread over its ten class levels), the Exalted Companion feat (you get a slightly more powerful familiar of good alignment). At 5th-level you can make a full attack after a charge, then at later levels you can haste yourself for 7-10 rounds (not necessarily consecutive) and you can finally use Leonal's Roar 3 times per day (an 8th-level druid spell). All in all, a pretty good Prestige Class! To top it off, it's got two good saves! All at the cost of one lousy feat and a few skill ranks. |
