Okay, an OK start. Now, for some questions.

Why did he leave? Was he just bored, or did something happen to his parents or the school so he could no longer attend?

Why did he start adventuring? Why not just stay home as a castle gaurd, or something similar?

Just a couple of questions to get your brain working. I find that it helps to think about what I want before I write anything down, then when I think I have a clear vision, I write it down, then I drive myself nuts over what is wrong with my seemingly flawless backgroun, then I post it here, then people help me see story holes, then I fix them, then I ask for more reviews, and that's when people ignore me.

perhaps he did go to a regular fighter school. but after he came back he became bored with politics and ran away for the life of an adventurer. and for an extra twist perhaps his parents have sent people after him. and they have latched onto the thought that his adventuring companionsbrainwashed/kidnapped him.

Perhaps he trained to work for local authority, but got a distaste for them. Not an urge for blood, but a feeling that doing the king's dirty work made him feel horrible, and needing to get away.

Did he complete his training as a fighter, or did he drop away from that? Could that be part of a concept for him ("I've given up on a lot in my life, but I'm not giving up on finding that demon!")?

Does he (or you) know why his parents wanted to send him away so young? Was he still in touch with them? Did they not like him or were they worried about something more sinister (Like they'd heard of threats against them and wanted to keep their child safe?)

Keep working, and talk to your DM about what "fits" where the game is set.

Alright.. this is where id start:

In medieval type fantasy, it isnt that strange to send a young noble born boy off to a school where he learns all the things he needs to be a noble. And that includes fighting! (Don't forget that nobility comes from knighthood and knighthood comes from being a damned good fighter) So the school he was sent to could actually have been where he trained as a fighter.

Then, why did he start adventuring? Well, think about reasons why a noble born boy, wouldnt want to live a life of ease and luxury?
Maybe, in his school, he met another (maybe another party member) and they found out the ugly side of nobility. Not wanting to anger their parents, they told them they wanted to go out and see the world.. and come back better men, more capable of taking over the lands once their parents die (a lot of nobles in D&D, especially in Eberron, have a background in which they adventured a couple of years) But the real reason they left, is because they want freedom, away from the nobility they are part of and away from their families.

Just a start.
