Ok so my dm said i had to come up with a more detailed personality/story for my Hume Ninja and he mostly axcels(sp) in str, dex, con, int, and wis. hes 23 and has black skin and red hair.:D
Ok so i figured you guys could somehow help me put together a story, and im pretty puzzled on which alignment i should use.

oh yeah and he holds 2 barbed daggers and 10 shurikens, and has spot, sleight of hand, sense motive, open lock, move silently, listen, hide, disable device, and climb. he knows common, giant and orc languages.

Thanks!
Oh this char is for D&D not FFXII.

Ok dude, you gotta wait a bit before you bump your post, usually a day is considered acceptable.

You gotta give us some stuff first, whats his alignment?

Whats his long term goals?
Whats his short term goals?

How and why did he become a ninja?

This should be a good platform for us to give you a hand.

Peace

long term goal: Find the man who captured/killed his father.

short term goal: Find a band of men who he can trick into helping him find his father.

hes a ninja because he grew up in japan and his parents found out he had an awesome skill in movement and speed, so his parents trained him even though the ninja way was only for the rich. soon after my ninja was training and went home only to find his father was gone. he trained day after day and my ninja was never to be seen again. nowadays people search for my ninja for gold rewards.

Hi lylac,

Look, Ninja are not some style of martial arts, these guys were assassins, they trained to kill for a living. This means he will not be a good person, neutral or evil. A background as a mercenary would work for a Ninja. If his parents trained him he would be part of a Ninja clan, which means that his parents would have many enemies. Lots of reasons why someone would kill his father. By the way being a ninja is not what the wealthy do, because they can afford it.

Indeed, Prom is right on all accounts. (Although, that name is pretty funny)

Ninjas were not nice people. One reason why I despise most nijae (is that the plural?) is that in media they are portrayed more like samurai (Ugh, Naruto and all the other pieces of crap.). Ninja were what samurai called, "honorless dogs who should commit sepekku."

Your ninja shouldn't care if his father died/was captured. A real ninja wouldn't swear revenge, that would be for the "naive" (in the ninja's eyes) samurai.

Also, it's a real world setting, yet set in a fictional city? Eh?!?

No offense, but some people on these boards won't be so polite when they see your character. (i.e., they'll crush your dreams)

Although, your character's appearence is pretty unqiue, compared to the cliches I see here otherwise.

(Sorry if I come across as rude. I've just seen so many "uber-cool" and "So unqiue" characters, and not just in D&D. Most characters like that get the ninja title slapped on to make them "Awesome!" and don't have a real personality.)

yeah it didnt come across rude, i made him look like a female drow so i was unique and uber-cool, he actually pretty much looks like my avitar

Like the avatar, except as you said in the first post, with red hair.

I like it. :D

Anyways, since it's not a Drizzt or Naruto copy, I *sigh* gueeess I could help you.

And actually, even though the "my father was killed/captured, so I'm avenging him" is rather cliche, otherwise, the background, especially the "Holy crap, I've got a bounty on me" vibe I seem to be getting from this guy, is good.

4.5 out of 7.4589 stars.

You took a contract with some shady characters to take out some mark. Turns out that mark is someone of high stature, maybe a princess or duchess. You failed to kill this person, and whats worse, you were captured!

You managed to escape your prison, but now the contractors are afraid that you might have divulged information leading to their arrest before escaping. They've sent several assassins after you now, as well as posting rather lucrative bounties on your head.

Now you're trying to save your skin, but you know that the only way you can get on with your business is to investigate who is responsible for the bounty hunters, and who is the real party that you took the contract with (a mediary was used to obscure their true identity.)

The best way to establish character identity is through roleplaying. When the DM gives you an option to make a "choice" out of combat, elaborate on how you move, how you sit, what you wear, what you do, all to personify whatever archetype you may have chosen for your ninja. If you want to be so bold as to give a ninja certain eccentricities, go for it. Maybe you always stop outside of town and enter under the cover of night, or you're a compulsive gambler. Maybe you have an alternate persona that you "wear" outside of your ninja status.

Also, try to incorporate your physical characteristics into your character descriptions. A black skinned red haired man is very easy to spot in a crowd, maybe you take precautions to foil your aggressors.

*EDIT* As for alignment, if you're going to take my suggestions, I would suggest Neutral on good v. evil (Lawful, Neutral, Chaotic depending on your playstyle)

thanks candin, that was alot of help.

well he got black because he was burned when he was captured, i dont know, i might stick with that.

I will most likely go with candid with all that stuff, it was real good, and i think i will go neutral.

-any suggestions on how he got black?

P.S. well use the name of Joe for the pc so we dont get mixed up

Perhaps instead of being burned, he was just magically turned black once he was captured to mark him as a prisoner and assassin. Sort of like how convicts are forced to wear orange jumpsuits or whatnot so that they're easy to spot and recognize when outside of the prison.

It's a lot more difficult to lose a pitch black skin color than it is to lose an orange jumpsuit in the event of a prisoner's escape. Similarly, if Drow are considered evil and dangerous, the character's black skin tone will most likely cause people to recognize him as one and go straight to the authorities. This reduces the escapee's options on the outside world as common people will be reluctant to help him, causing your character to be even more stealthy out of necessity.

ok...ok... anymore?

good one ensjak

Oh and i have collaberated all this into one, but there is more room for addition if anyone has more suggestions.

I don't think this is right: why didn't Complete Adventurer include an alignment restriction on ninjas then? Fighters -- who are generally not adept in anything except killing -- can be good.
