Hello all,

I'm starting my first character in a new campaign, and I have some trouble fitting the various skills into the portrait, so I ask for your help.

My character is Imrik, a human female rogue/swashbuckler, starting out as a rogue. Stats are Str 12, Dex 15 (or 16), Con 12, Int 16, Wis 10, Cha 10, generated with a 30 (or perhaps 32) point-buy; the DM isn't sure about the correct amount ;).

This means that I have (8+1+3)*4 = 48 skill points available at first level.
Putting 4 ranks in Profession (Carpenter), Tumble and Jump seems logical, because I see her as working during the day (as a carpenter), and doing some acrobatics (together with another character: rogue/wizard/arcane trickster) during the evenings to earn a little extra. Adding Sense Motive, Bluff and Diplomacy could be justified by saying that she uses those skills to haggle over prices, etc. Climb ranks can be added to help her climb on rooftops to make repairs. A rank in Swim represents her liking to swim.
Now, I still have plenty of skill points left and would like to assign some of these to Hide, Move Silently, Listen, Spot, Search, Disable Device and Open Lock to be able to fullfil my role as a rogue. But how do I explain the ranks in those skills?

I've been wondering for a few days now, and would like to hear your input on this...

Thanks in advance,
