| bonegnasher11-21-03, 10:21 PM | Here is my character premise. Thaerid is currently a 4th level LN fighter, with the background of a Thayan wizard and a worshipper of Kelemvor. He left Thay because he wanted to be a warrior and not a wizard(got tired of the family/peer pressure) of Thay. I have talked to my DM about a gradual alignment change to LE by the time I am 7th level. At 7th level I am going to take the PrC of blackguard, and take a horse for a familiar. Then at 9th level I am going to start taking the cavalier PrC to pump my familiar and get those nifty mounted attack bonuses :D . Now I am trying to get an idea for what this guy might do in the future. I am new to 3.0/3.5 and am trying to wrap my brain around the idea of a LE fighter/blackguard/cavalier that follows a diety like Kelmovor, and how he would behave, what his motivations might be, etc..... Thanks for any input. :b: |

If he`s no fan of the Red Wizard and a worrshipper of Kelemvor he`d have every reason to want to exterminate as many followers of Veshoona as he could. |

But this might be nice, real nice: Your blackguard is trying to hoard all the undead together, assembling a vast army, so to speak. While in truth he worships Kelemvor, he pretends to worship someone like Bane (world domination - fits right in). That blackguard goes around, using his powers to lure undead of all walks of life (and HD) to his side. Says he'll march over Faerūn with an army of the dead. He beguiles intelligent undead to his cause. In fact, he really wants to bring the intelligent ones into this, because they are the most powerful and reclusive undead of all, and they are difficult to vanquish. But underneath it all, all he's trying to do, is amass a large number of undead and lead them to their true death as per Kelemvor's wishes. Keeping only a manageable number of undead followers at a time, mind you. With a plate mail of undead control, a good charisma and perhaps a few levels of cleric instead of cavalier, you could control a big frickin' lot of undeads, and each time lead them to their final rest. I can only imagine the looks on the vampires faces as their blackguard ally pulls a lever, which in turn shifts open the roof, allowing all that sunlight inside the room where he had led them, promising solace. Perhaps the floor would be inscribed with Kelemvor's symbol, but enchanted so it only glows when struck by sunlight. Or it's not enchanted, but crafted so that (like those occular tests where you have to read a number in a field of coloured dots) when the sun shines in, Kelemvor's symbol outshines over all the mosaic floor. Seems like so much fun, I'm itching to play him myself! ;) And since "he who hunts monsters must be careful not to become a monster himself", perhaps the blackguard becomes a Death Knight, and then his powers at attracting undead are really put to "good" use. HA!! Then, in the end, when his work is done, he puts himself to death. |

He'd always be weary of some undead or undead-sympatizer (?) piercing through his facade personality. Also, he'd be mostly misunderstood. People of all walks of life would be trying to get to him, as they would believe he his really amassing an army of undead. He being the evil type, he would have no cumpunction about killing those foolish enough to meddle... as long as they are not reborn as undead, of course. short to middle-term objectives would be to ferret out/destroy undead-worshipping/sympatizer cells, like clerics of Velsharoon, Kiaransalee or Orcus. With the high charisma any blackguard or paladin should have, gathering information would work wonders to locate those independant cells. long-term objectives: destroy this and that lich and demilich, or perhaps tricking the occasional death knight (mostly to get at its retinue of undead), too. If you don't go the cavalier way, having a black raven as fiendish servant might be very cool atmospheric-wise, as your raven's arrival in town would strike fear into the hearts of the peasants and commoners, all too aware that where your raven goes, you follow. Really, really interesting character. Requires an evil alignment, though. If you like sneaky, tricky roleplay with lots of subversion. |
