| shuman06-18-06, 10:56 AM | Any good ideas on a Thri Kreen character. I am thinking about beginning one, and I like the role playing ideas, such as language and customs. The campaign is beginning in the south of the Realms, around Chult, etc. but I thought, being a Thri Kreen, he would be from the desert areas. I need to figure out why such a strange creature is adventuring in the greater realms. Also cant decide between Monk, Ranger, or Rogue. Dont have the books about Vow of Poverty, etc, but these sound interesting to use for my idea. We dont really use Psionics in the campaign, so something Psi related would be good, but not available. I will have to Optimize a bit, as our campaign is very combat intensive. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Not only are they the Thri Keens fav class, it makes the most sense for what you described. Rangers (my fav class in dnd) are prone to adventuring in unchartered terrritory which could be used as your reasoning for adv in the greater realms. In response to the vow of pov, I personaly do not use the BOED in my camp b/c it seems to be very broken in many ways. VoP is very broken and to use it w/ a thri keen seems almost to much pg, although it would make for a powerfull char. IMO your best bet would be a ranger, using the Thri Keen racial weps. They are both very good adn u dont need the exotic feats to use them. The ranged has a nice crit range u can bump up w/ imp crit. If you take the ranger ranged option you can take the monsterous feats to improve ur melee. |

My first thought was to play him very wise, such as a Jedi type in DnD, but I agree with your Ranger views. Due to the fact that Thri Kreens cant use some magic items (clothing, etc.) what would you suggest to optimise these features. Forsaken PrC, for instance? |
