07-29-03, 07:05 PM Don't listen to them, Friar Tuck. The fact that you actually care about a background shows that you want more than just a combat powerhouse. I would suggest starting with how in the world did this thing get conceived? Brass dragons are good, so maybe your draconic parent was working with the dwarven parent's clan. Maybe the dragon helped in digging tunnels in exchange for a large portion (very large portion) of the treasure. Dragons are known to take human form. Perhaps your dwarven parent was an adventurer who stumbled across the dragon in dwarf form one day. They might have had a one night stand, or a deep relationship that even survived the discovery of the dragon's true race. If you go for the one night stand, imagine the dwarfmaid's surprise when her babe was born with scales, wings and tail. You could say that your birth killed your mother, and so she could never tell you the identity of your father. You would have been raised an outcast, dependent on the charity of others who only cared for you out of respect for your mother. Judging from your other post about a bard's choice of instrument, I will assume this character will be a bard. If you want to have the character be a friendless pariah, you could always say that your only friend was a wizened old minstrel who taught you his art. Or else you taught yourself music- the rest of the world viewed you as a hideous monster, but you devoted yourself the pursuit of beauty so as to prove them wrong. I'm just typing as ideas come to me, I really know very little about your character (alignment, class, anything) so what I say might be irrelevant, but hope this helps. Good luck.
