| Khazra Reborn06-25-04, 03:51 PM | Im about to start playing a new character & am trying to think of a backround & personality. The problem is that all i can come up with is so cheesy. All i have at the moment is that he barely talks & never smiles, is completely self sufficient & talk about himself in the 3rd person (stole that from the 1001 character querks;) ) & as such seems to be an incredibly stereo typed charcter. The character is a were-touched master (basicly a lycanthrope) black panther, base race is shaper. He attacks from the shadows but only because he fear light & i wanted to incorperate this into the character personality & maybe even backround. I was thinking of having him worried that if the sunlight came into contact with his skin he will catch fire then turn to dust as he saw this happen to his father (father had been turned into a vampire) & maybe making him heavily predujice against people only to find out a member of his family was that (eg. homophobic>brother is gay). What do people think? |

Funnily enough he's not actualy evil, just "dishonourable" as a paladin might put it. He's not a weak rogue, he is in fact a very capable front line melee character but just doesn't see the point in losing the disadvantage stealth gives him. Do not make him a loner that never speaks and hides out in the "Dark corner" of taverns. Thats my exact problem, its all i've got really. Come on, anyone got anything original? |
| Bluntpencil200106-26-04, 06:08 PM | Perhaps make him weak physically, but his child hood amibition was to be a warrior, slaying his enemies with bright steel, he eventually found a way to fight evil on his terms, in the shadows. Make him a coward. He wanted to be a hero and had some training with his blades, but no matter how hard he tried he couldn't fight a foe face to face. In order to make a difference in the world and fight evil etc. he would sneak up behind his enemy and end their lives. Perhaps he will overcome his fears, but he'd probably be used to his fighting style by then. Make him have a very cynical world view. He cares not for honour, he believes in ease and efficiency in his crusade against evil (or quest for plunder etc..). To the party Paladin he'd likely say, " Why should I give an evil foe a chance to hit me, either way I'm going to kill him. " Make him have a sense of honour slightly at odds from the rest of the region he is in, believing stealthy combat is honourable. Maybe he believes killing an evil foe from the shadows prevents innocents being caught in the crossfire of righteous battle. He believes a precise attack with no risk to bystanders is preferable to open conflict. |

The others weren't suited as he is physically strong (he has panther physical stat bonuses) & rarely shows signs of fear. I was thinking of going with the first option but if accused of being a coward his excuse would be that he doesn't want innocents caught in the cross fire but his real reason would remain that he doesn't care about honour. So ive got a reason for his fighting style but now i need one for what he uses to fight. My DM said that if i wanted i could trade in my natural claw attacks for +2 str & +2 con & i thought that my characters desire to grow claws could be a good campaign hook if someone were to offer him the means to do this. As such he would use weappons which duplicated claws (clawed bracers). |
