It is easier if you have someone who already knows how to play to teach you. If you don't know any one try going to a local game store and see if there are any people looking for new players.

Hope this helps at least a little. :D

I think perhaps you are not quite ready for the Character Developement board, I would recomend the "What's a Player To Do" board, it is more appopriate for this sort of question, although quite frankly you might want to consider letting up on the caps lock key there, and the profanity, it tends to make you look like an :censored:, just a tip.

But to be more helpful: first, do you have aplayer's handbook? If so read though it, especially the first section. Also, do you have a D&D group? If not you can't play, and so learning has little merit, if so, at least one member ought to ahve greater knowledge of the game than you (otherwise you do not infact have a D&D group, you just have friends, which is nice, but unhelpful)

However, if you don't have any D&D playing friends, and you don't understand the player's handbook (or don't have it), you should go to the D&D website (click on the games link at the very very top of the page, it should help you get there), over on the left there ought to be a section about learning to play the game.

But in any event, if you want to play D&D it is vital that you get a group (ideally between 3 and 5 people plus a DM). You also need a dungeon masters guide, player's handbook and a monster manual. Or you can just use the SRD but I wouldn't suggest it if you are unfamiliar with the game.

Oh, and here is a brief primer on the d20 system:

whenever you want to do anything, you roll a twenty sided dice (d20) and add any relevent modifiers (based on class levels, ability scores or circumstances), and you are trying to beat either a set number, or an opposed roll. High numbers are good, small numbers are bad.

Each character has 6 ability scores: strength, dextarity, constitution, intelligence, wisdom and charisma. These are determined by rolling 4 six-sided dice (4d6) and ignoring the lowest number. You do this 6 times and assign the scores as you wish. Most d20 games (D&D, d20 modern, Star Wars etc.). Allow you to choose from a variety of races and class.
