| TheDarkPrince07-31-07, 12:25 AM | Assassin-like monk. Basically he is a highly trained warrior of a secret cult, who's mission is to maintain balance between Good and Evil. (Think Raz-Al-Gul from the Batman movie....(not the comics) and the organization he led) What I would like help with is: How would you play the character flavor wise? What path (PrC/multi-classing) would you follow? Anything else helpful, comments, questions, etc. Thanks, Cheers! :D |
| CrimsonDeath07-31-07, 01:26 AM | Monk of the Long Death (Player's Guide to Faerun) might be a good Prestiege Class option. |
| TheDarkPrince07-31-07, 02:51 AM | damn....people have said that before, but i don't have the book.....is it worth getting? (Besides helping me with the class....) Thanks! |
| CrimsonDeath07-31-07, 03:12 AM | Not a clue. I've never really used anything from it. The only reason I mentioned it is because it's the only assassin-ish prestiege class I could think of that didn't require either a good or evil alignment. |
| the_redbeard07-31-07, 04:47 AM | damn....people have said that before, but i don't have the book.....is it worth getting? (Besides helping me with the class....) Thanks! If you're playing in Faerun 3.5, it updates/adds region feats from the Campaign Setting book which was technically 3.0 I believe. There are 15 pages or so of feats, though some of these show up in other products (Arcane Preparation.) There are 3.5 versions of a number of prestige classes that are favorites, like Incantatrix, Shadow Thief - 30 pages of prestige classes including Monk of the Long Death. After the prestige classes there are a huge number of spells - again, some appear in other products but I'm pretty sure not all. Oh - and Deity-specific spells for Faerun. So quite a lot if you're doing the realms. |
| Apupunchau07-31-07, 11:06 AM | Player's guide to faerun has a lot of prestiege classes I use although some a Faerun specific. All the divine ones are good (Divine champion and Divine seeker are both bein gused in my current campaign.) And Monk of the Long Death is exactly the flavor you seem to be looking for, |
| TheDarkPrince07-31-07, 05:13 PM | Thanks. I think I'll take a look at buying it then. |
| CobaltDeathWolf07-31-07, 06:49 PM | hmmm... i think a ghost-faced killer would be a good choice, since he's evil thats out of the complete adventurer book as far as personality... mayhaps... the silent dangerous type the kinda guy that tells his 'comrades' "dont get in my way, or i'll kill you too:monk: " |
| CrimsonDeath07-31-07, 07:00 PM | hmmm... i think a ghost-faced killer would be a good choice, since he's evil Pretty sure the OP said he was neutral, not evil. If he were evil, I would've just said "Assassin" and been done with it. |
| CobaltDeathWolf07-31-07, 08:04 PM | oops! misread the post i saw "Assassin" and thought evil |
| Phelot_Plaguecrafter07-31-07, 11:08 PM | Can you say Shadowsun Ninja? Tome of Battle. Seriously, dude. I can't even describe how appropriate this is. Just, seriously. |
| Fithero07-31-07, 11:53 PM | Seriously, dude. I can't even describe how appropriate this is. Just, seriously. Seriously? Is the character concerned with only bringing balance to good and evil or to law and chaos aswell? The problem with the whole "bringing balance" idea is that it has to be done on a multiverse level. I found the best way to do it was to say that it is so out of balance (in favour of evil) that my character had to do good for the entire campaign, just to bring about balance. Peace |
| CrimsonDeath08-01-07, 04:00 AM | Can you say Shadowsun Ninja? Tome of Battle. Seriously, dude. I can't even describe how appropriate this is. Just, seriously. I thought of that too, but they have to be Good. Monk of the Long Death was seriously the only Assassin-like PrC I could think of that didn't have to be either Good or Evil. Seriously? Peace The guy is trying to play Raz al'Gul. Trust me, he's thinking on a multiversal level. (Or if he isn't, he ought to be.) |
| TheDarkPrince08-02-07, 04:37 AM | Monk of the Long Death (man the title alone is long enough to kill.....) sounds pretty good....What all can it do? What can the shadowsun ninja do? (Would it be terrible of me to change the alignment?) |
| CrimsonDeath08-02-07, 01:54 PM | Monk of the Long Death (man the title alone is long enough to kill.....) sounds pretty good....What all can it do? It stacks with Monk (for a few purposes), uses, poison, and eventually gets a Death Attack and Death Touch. What can the shadowsun ninja do? It's a prestiege class from Tome of Battle. It stacks with Monk levels (for a few purposes) and grants Shadow Hand and Setting Sun maneuvers (so it's easiest to get in as a Swordsage). It also has several weird abilities involving positive and negative energy, cold and fire, and light and darkness. (Would it be terrible of me to change the alignment?) You tell me. It's your character. |
| TheDarkPrince08-04-07, 05:38 PM | No I meant as a Pre-Req for the class, I'm keeping my character's alignment, just hoping that changing the classes pre-req wouldn't be too munckiny.....:D Thanks, Cheers! :D |
| Nox_the_Barbarian08-25-07, 12:53 PM | I wouldnt be too munchkin-y but it would seriously change the flavor of the class. The shadowsun ninja is my favorite PrC from ToB, and its mainly for repentant characters, or people trying to prove something. like a half-orc trying to prove that he can be as good as any other race. it doesnt strike me as the right PrC for the character you are trying to play. |
